The Healthy Mind Cookbook by Rebecca Lang – Book Review
For years we’ve been hearing the adage “you are what you eat”… but did you know that the food that you eat can impact your mind as well as your body?’
In The Healthy Mind Cookbook, Rebecca Katz invites us into her culinary pharmacy as she shares the latest research on brain health – a growing area of science that suggests that not only does the food we eat impact how our brain functions, but also has the potential to improve cognition, emotions and physical function and possibly ward off diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.
The first three chapters of The Healthy Mind Cookbook are dedicated to showing us how eating the right foods can positively impact our health – spotlighting the reasons why specific foods and spices have the power to improve our memory, cognitive functioning and other benefits – and providing strategies for incorporating these powerhouse into our lives.
Chapters 4 through 10 of The Healthy Mind Cookbook contain “big flavor recipes to enhance brain function, mood memory, and mental clarity”. The recipes emphasize a well-rounded, clean eating lifestyle. The photos by Maren Caruso are bright and inviting and generously placed throughout the book. The book concludes with Resources, a Bibliography, and a helpful Index.
If you are interested in improving your long-term mental health, you’ll discover that The Healthy Mind Cookbook contains the perfect amount of information to get you started on your journey without being overwhelming. This cookbook is interesting to read – beautiful to look at – and broad enough in its recipe selection that most people will find several recipes they will want to try.
The Healthy Mind Cookbook is definitely a cookbook I’ll be using in the years to come!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
