Wordless Wednesday – Adopt A Senior Pet Month

Peaceful Tsunami

Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!

Quote Of The Week

If there is one spot of sun spilling onto the floor,
A cat will find it and soak it up.

J.A. McIntosh

Adopt A Senior Pet Month

Isn’t this week’s photograph lovely? Sweet Tsunami loves soaking up sunshine as he monitors the happenings in our household.

You’d never guess, as you sit in the calming presence of our 8-year old Maine Coon Cat, that he was once a wild young kitten who earned his name because he tore through our home, often leaving disaster in his wake!

But that’s one of the primary differences between a young kitten or puppy and a more mature cat or dog. As they age with grace, they develop a new-found wisdom and maturity that often makes them even better pets than they were in their adorable but often a touch too exuberant youth!

Tsunami is so handsome! We love senior pets here. We’re a little biased, though, since Moosey, Gracie and Zoe are all seniors. 🙂

    Thanks for hosting, Ramona!

If I could adopt another dog I would, but my hubby would go bonkers. I love parrots too, but they’re so messy. hehehe Anyway, when my “Baby” goes to that puppy heaven I will definitely adopt another Lab then. I love Labs and they’re so lovable. Anyway dear friend I’m so tired and I have to get up very early. I love that picture of your kitty at the top of this Post. They have such character… don’t you think? Have a great day!

  12. Gattina says:

  13. Mister Cat also loves soaking up sunshine just like Tsunami. since Autumn has arrived he spends is days sunbathing by the window.
Many years ago when I was a child our family adopted a senior black cat. He was the most patient and sweet cat I ever met!

We love our adopted kitties, they have always provided us with lots of love. Especially when I was choosing our boy kitty, they took him out of the cage and he curled up in my lap, however, he turned coat and now is my husbands lap cat!! But then there is my sweet Sabrina, she follows me, sleeps around my head and snuggles every chance she gets.

    Happy Wednesday!!!

What a handsome fellow! Our thirteen year old lab always surprises us with his bursts of friskiness even with bad hips :(. Love his spirit. It’s wonderful that you’re promoting senior pets and adoption. We adopted our younger dog and couldn’t be more in-love!

  16. Heather says:

I love how Tsunami got his name! I could say the same thing for both our cats. Our youngest cat “Bell”, loves to chase our shadows. She’s so funny!

  17. What a heartwarming video. I know my sister would love to read this book. She is constantly adopting dogs and cats. 🙂

  18. The Daily Pip says:

We also like to adopt senior or special needs animals. Miss Ruby was a senior and has some special needs as well. We love her!

  19. Comedy Plus says:

Have a great Wordless Wednesday. ☺

  20. Lovely photo, thanks for the linkup!

  21. Shadow says:

Aging gracefully is a good thing, and a good reason to adopt an older animal.

  22. Kitties Blue says:

I love kittens and all the fun and laughter, but once a cat reaches two years old, it seems to have formed its personality, and I enjoy them so much more from then on. It is hard to imagine that Tsunami was a wild one. Thanks for hoping. Hugs, Janet

  23. New to your blog, the first thing I had to check out was “Cats.” Love your cats! My mother adopted an interesting senior pet. At the shelter she had just about settled on a friendly young cat when she spotted an unfriendly older cat. When she heard the cat’s story, she just had to take that one. The cat’s owner had been an elderly man who was moving into assisted living and could no longer keep a cat. She kept the name the man had given the cat, just “Kitty Cat.” Though it was my mother who fed her, spent time with her, etc, she never paid the slightest bit of attention to my mother. She only liked my dad (a real “one man” cat!). Then some years later when Kitty Cat was dying, under my mother’s tender care, she seemed to want to make it all up to her and would lick her hand as if to say “Thank you.”
