Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!
This Week We’re Celebrating My Naughty Cat!
A few days ago, I walked into my kitchen and heard the sounds that no one wants to hear: dripping water instead of the peaceful morning sounds of silence.
Perplexed, I opened the kitchen cabinets and discovered that water was cascading out of every inch of pipework under the sink! Since I couldn’t find the water shut off valve, I began grabbing pots and pans to catch the water and quickly called a plumber to fix the problem!
In the meantime, I received an auto-shipment of cat food from Chewy.com. Normally, I process Chewy boxes right away so that the cats don’t have a chance to break into the packages, but needless to say, I was a tad preoccupied that day. Of course, the ever-enterprising Magellan took full advantage of the situation!
Magellan just knew his food was inside the box – and he was determined to get to it! In between the distractions of emptying out the pots and pans every 10 minutes or so (they were filling up that fast!), I kept hearing strange sounds from the living room – but I thought Magellan was simply playing with his scratching toys.
When I finally went to investigate, Magellan tried to play it off by pretending he was making himself a cozy bed to nest in, and posing as adorably as he could for me, but those of you who live with cats know that this was just an act.
When I unloaded the box, it was clear what his real intent was: Magellan had managed to break into one of the food bags!
Unfortunately for Magellan, I cut his foraging spree short, and he did not get to feast on his spoils. In one final attempt at a prize, when I pulled the remaining bags out, he sidled up to them for one final shot at a break-in!
So Magellan would like you to be the judge. Do these photos provide sufficient evidence that he is one very clever, very enterprising, yet one very naughty cat – or, is he the epitome of innocence, and the victim of circumstance, happenstance, and a writer with too vivid an imagination?

Magellan is so naughty heheh!
Have a chewytastic week 🙂
Thanks Steve! The way he behaves – or misbehaves – around food, you’d think he’d barely ate! 🙂
Aww such sweet pictures 🙂 My Mollie tries to open my parcels all the time, if it was food for her she would be so excited ..
Ah, sweet Mollie – Magellan is just like that too!
I frequently have to put down the scissors and wait for him to finish playing with the parcels to make sure he doesn’t he doesn’t lose a whisker while I’m trying to open things up!
Oh, no! Silly kitty. Sometimes Glenda will rip her food bag open or chew on it if she manages to sneak into the pantry. That usually happens if one of my kids fails to close the door. I hope you got your leak fixed. Have a terrific afternoon!
Thanks Cascia! Magellan actually knows how to open the pantry and all of the cabinet doors and goes in there whenever he pleases! Fortunately he hasn’t broken into any of the packages in there yet (to the best of my knowledge) but now that you mention it I am going to have to watch for it, because we previously had a plastic storage bin to contain his food, but since it broke, the spare bags are stored in the pantry which he has access too!
Too cute! It’s a wonder they are fat cats!
As you can see, Magellan is so busy getting into mischief, he doesn’t have the time to get fat! lol 🙂
Well the verdict is in and I say he definitely knew what he is was doing and really knows how to cover up his shenanigans. Naughty kitty!! But Im glad he has a good human that gets tasty food so he wont be hungry.
Thanks for hosting, hope you stay dry now!
Karren
Thanks Karren! I think it’s the kitties who have the wild imagination with their concoctions of innocence even in the face of such concrete evidence that I so dutifully present! 🙂
Have an awesome week!
What a great name for a cat, and it totally fits him! He is too cute to be guilty! Thanks for sharing with #OMHGWW! Hope you have a wonderful day 🙂
Yes Kelly I was just sharing that Magellan (who explores everything) has got to be one of the most aptly named cats every!
Have a wonderful day!
Gorgeous pussytat tale. You couldn’t get cross with that little cutie.
The planning, cunning, dramatics and execution deserve a treat, surely?
My dog is normally good and has never chewed anything she shouldn’t, but one thing she has mastered is to pretend she needs to go outside, because she normally gets a piece of chicken when she returns. I’ve watched her and her acting is really that of a Hollywood Diva.
She then runs back in making a bee-line to her bowl for her reward!
Sneaky in the extreme.
I was going to add that I hope you got your plumbing sorted, but that sounds a tad too personal.
Thanks for sharing and hosting. I hope you have a great week
Too funny! Yes, the leak has been fixed – hopefully it holds! 🙂
What a devious doggie! Isn’t it amazing just how cunning our pats can be – particularly when it involves food?
Thanks for sharing your delightful tale with us today Neesie!
Good try Magellan. My cats do the same thing with bags so all the food goes into containers and still has to be kept out of reach.
So enterprising they are! Have a great week Ellen – I know your cats keep you on guard!
I’d say get a dog, but they can be just as guilty.

For sure! I used to have a dog that would lay on my feet, chewing things he shouldn’t – and the moment he felt me shift my weight to check on him, he would cover it up with his paw!
So cute!!!
Oh how adorable he is! I so love seeing the photos. Yes I think he is definitely clever and scheming as well as too cute for words all in one kitty package!
Hi Lisa!
Yes, he is definitely a schemer – but he is so cute, it’s hard to scold him most days!
I was thinking this week, that our cat was finally starting to settle after our move in February but they’ve started to build units down the street which means lots of noise and workmen in trucks and he has gone back to hiding under the lounge.
Oh it’s no fun when workmen disrupt everyone’s routines – esp the poor kitty!
The timing of reading this post is priceless. Just this morning my calico kitty, Holly brought a live sparrow into the kitchen! Even though both of my cats are indoor kitties, the routine is they go out for about thirty minutes each morning. My husband and I usually sit out on the front porch with them while leaving the door open. That’s how Holly was able to bring the poor bird in the kitchen. The bird is alright and Holly is quite peeved that we didn’t let her keep it.
Oh Holly, what a mighty hunter you are!
So your parents did not let you keep your prize?
They are even meaner than I am! lol
Glad to hear that the bird is OK Beckie – what an adventure you must have had returning the poor birdie to its rightful home!
Magellan, you’re handsome AND clever! 🙂
Thank you for hosting the WW blog hop. We hope that plumbing issue is all fixed!!!
Thanks KT it is fixed and hopefully does not re-occur! 🙂
Oh, that is a naughty cat for sure! lol Took advantage of your distraction. Our cats will definitely dig in to a bag of food if it’s left around. Simba used to claw the furniture! GAH! My aunt would love the cat book you’re giving away. =)
Glad you made it Mimi! Be sure to enter as it would make a wonderful gift for your aunt! 🙂
You do what you gotta do! I have a Maine Coon but I don’t think he’s THAT smart!
You might be surprised when your Maine Coon surprises you one of these days Carolsue (wink wink)! 🙂
Our latest Chewy shipment had all canned food! Hmph.
Magellan is a true entrepreneur – he likes to get the job done 🙂
Wow!! It must be fate – talk about a purrfect post to go paw-in-paw with my post at Zee & Zoey’s today!! I’ve got an open call for submissions fora all things cat weird at my blog today! I’ve got my third book in the works and I’m inviting some input from readers!!
Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang
circumstantial evidence at best. I mean some other cat could have broken in, had the bags and scampered away before you came out! Innocent!
LeeAnna
He is adorable either way!
He just wanted to protect what it is his. Remember that cats know what a good food dish is.
First of all, according to these pics I think Magellan got his punishment by not getting his feast for all his efforts, but no treats for him for that day either for making a mess.
Secondly, my dog “Baby” grrrrr got in trouble last week because I had company last week and I put a snack on our coffee table in a little plate. It was those roll ups you can make they look like targets (I forget what they call them), but their flour tacos or do they call them tortias hmmm and you spread a mixture of cream cheese/ranch dressing, slice of ham, chopped pickles, slice of cheese and roll them up and cut them up to look like little wheels or targets and so yummy. I put a plate of them on our coffee table and baby never takes off the table… Well, never say NEVER! She CLEANED that WHOLE PLATE OFF!!!! I was so mad!!! grrrrrrr
Anyway, have a nice day my friend sorry I’ve been scarce. I’ve been too busy and my back has been acting up so there’s a lot of crocheting being done in my recliner then sitting at the desk. 🙁 Have a great week & weekend!!! HUGS Got to go enter your give-away now! HURRY PEOPLE CUZ I’M ON MY WAY TOO! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!! ~hehehe~
Cats love a good box! Cute.
Magellan was definitely a very helpful cat trying to make sure his needs were met without interrupting you during your difficult day. That is this cat’s perspective anyhow.
Shadow the cat
Sarah the human.
We know Magellan’s guilty ’cause we’ve been caught doing the same thing, but according to The Universal Bill of Rights for All Cats, he was definitely within his rights. Way to go, Magellan. We salute you and your ingenuity. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Likely he is guilty – and starved or he never would have attempted the break-in! Beautiful kitty. Must be forgiven.
He is one handsome fellow. And, a fellow that knows what he wants.
Happy Pink Saturday.
Of course you’re innocent …hehehe,xx Speedy
First of all, how awful about your pipes! What happened? I hope you were able to get them fixed quickly and there is not any lasting damage. That happened to us here at mom’s a couple of years ago and she has a hardwood kitchen floor. Yikes!
Magellan, Magellan, Magellan…he is so funny! They go after what they want, that’s for sure. Alice used to get into the cabinet where we keep the big bag of food. I finally had to block the cabinet (with a ton of effort because nothing worked and she kept moving what I blocked it with). Crafty kitties!
LOL the picture of innocence!!!!
