Friend Of The Week – Mary
One of the most important skills we can develop as bloggers is the ability to take stellar photographs, for pictures truly are worth a thousand or more words when it comes to the Internet – but where do you turn for advice if you’ve never taken a photography class in your life and you don’t have the time, budget or inclination to do so now?
Savvy bloggers turn to their blogging buddies for advice – and today, I’d like to introduce you to my friend Mary, a South Carolina photographer, teacher and writer who blogs at Mary Denman!
Mary began her life-long love affair with photography as a little girl while pouring over her family’s slide shows. As a teen, she received her first camera and began pointing and shooting whatever she could on her Minolta! She began capturing historical shots like the first shuttle launch from her television screen and her favorite actors, and eventually broadened her sights to real people, pets, and nature.
Her love affair with photography continued even after she got married and started her family and today, Mary has moved to the digital world and transferred her Minolta brand loyalty to Canon!
As a blogger, Mary shares her wealth of knowledge in her weekly column, Photo Tip Fridays and her insights on life in Monday Musings. Be sure to check them out – they are sure to become favorite hangouts!

As a blogger, I have learned to love taking photos everywhere I go, but I don’t really like to have photos taken of myself. I actually need to get a decent headshot done one of these days.

Same here Deborah – it’s been forever since I’ve had one done!
My fav things to photograph is my kids and nature. I love trees and the beach. My 9 year old loves her photo taken so I probably take the most of her, my other 2 seem to hide away more. I have no issue with my photo being taken unless I am having a really bad day where I feel horrible #peaches+salt
Now that I’m a grandma, my favorite subject to photograph is my granddaughter. I also love photographing my pup and the birds of the area. And every family gathering. And…LOL I have loved taking pictures since I was a kid. But I always prefer to be behind the camera. 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend!
