Welcome to the 2017 One Word Blog Hop!
Welcome to the 2017 One Word Blog Hop at Create With Joy! The purpose of this event is to motivate and encourage one another to accomplish amazing things by identifying and sharing the “One Word” that will inspire each of us throughout the upcoming year!
The One Word Blog Hop is open during the entire month of January so if you are still in the process of identifying the One Word that will focus and guide you through 2017, just share your post when you’ve completed the process!
Be sure to visit one another throughout the month – connect with and encourage one another – and draw inspiration from each other. Please share this party with your friends as well!
You are also invited to share your New Year’s goals and resolutions and to post updates and progress reports throughout the month. It takes 21 days to form a new habit – use this time to build the momentum you need to accomplish your goals in the months to come!
What’s Your One Word For 2017?
When I was growing up, making New Year’s Resolutions was the thing to do. Each January, it would be part of our cultural New Year ritual to make a list of all of the things we hoped to accomplish in the New Year.
New Year’s Resolutions can be a wonderful thing, if you make plans and take the necessary steps to follow your plans through to completion . Too often, however, our resolutions become no more than wish lists that are forgotten or tossed aside in the days or weeks to come.
As a result, many of us have abandoned those long list of resolutions and have chosen a new path – the selection of One Word to guide us through the New Year. This One Word serves as a guiding principle to help us become the people we want to be, to change the habits we want to change, to live the lives we want to lead.
Last January, I chose the word FOCUS for my One Word and it served me well. I chose to focus on improving my health by making small but significant changes to my lifestyle and – in the process – lost 40 pounds!
This year, I’ve chosen SIMPLIFY as my focus for 2017. I will be focusing on ways to eliminate clutter and distractions from my life, to create routines that help me to move through my days with ease, and to create more time, energy and space in my life to do the things that truly matter to me!
Have you chosen your One Word to guide you through the upcoming year? Link your posts and/or share your Words in the comments!

What are your dreams for the New Year? Have you set specific goals or made traditional resolutions? Do you have an inspiring quote you’d like to share?

Happy 2017 – may your year be filled with joy!

Congrats on the weight loss!
Simplify is something that I need to do as well. I know it would help me with the clutter that is in my life (both in my house and in my personal life).

OK, it’s not a “One Word” post per se, but I do mention what I would be using for a “One Word” – STRETCH!

Great word LuAnn – first time I’ve ever seen someone choose that one! 🙂
This is a great idea to share our One Word posts! It is always fun to read what word other people have chosen. Simplify is a good choice. We all can simplify our lives to some degree. This year I have chosen “Forward”. It will be exciting to see where that takes me!

So excited to have found your post and join you! I was so overwhelmed by the One Word this year.. and also thought back to resolutions of my childhood.. wrote about it at http://www.nicolebeholds.com
I love simplify! Mine is “me”… I’m writing about it in a two part series because I thought “me” needed an explanation. But a lot of it overlaps with simplify! Good choice! Thanks for sharing and for the linkup party 🙂
I didn’t do a single word like I did last year because I really am trying to keep things simple. In reality, simplify would also be my word. Here’s wishing you all the best and a year that is full of simple pleasures! 🙂
I’m still working on my word for this year, but my theme is Glide More, Flap Less. I’m working on Pauline Wiles’ Serenity Project. My quote is “Do More of What You Love”. So I’ll have to have a think and come up with a word. Congratulations on losing 40 pounds! Well done! Thank you so much for sharing with us at Hearth and Soul.
What a wonderful Linky! Thanks for sharing at Together on Tuesdays 🙂
I have definitely abandoned long New Year’s Resolution lists. I’m a perfectionist, so I live in a constant state of frustration if I’m not meeting my goals perfectly. Not a good way to travel through life!!!
I’ve done words before: Believe, Humility, Follow – and then I felt that God wanted me to put those three word together to say, Believe in humility and follow.
This year the word “die” seems to be pressing itself upon me. Not a very fun word. Not a word that would look pretty painted on wood in some whimsical font, but a word that is probably extremely appropriate for a Christian. I must die to self. And I think it’s the perfect word because die is exactly what my flesh should do when I believe in humility and follow. I need to blog it but haven’t yet. 😉
Thanks for linking up with Literacy Musing Mondays!!
This is a super idea! Thank you for the space to share and be inspired!

My one word is “attitude.” I always choose a verse/theme for the new year and this year I chose Phil 2:5 – “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.” Our attitude is so important and I want mine to be like Christ’s.
My word for the year is FOCUS! Thanks for linking up at the Funtastic Friday link party!

Thanks for linking up to the #homematters linky party.
I still haven’t written a post about it, but I have finally found my word for 2017! It’s enough. I’m trying to focus on the fact that I’m enough – good enough, capable enough, competent enough, thin enough, I could go on and on…Thank you for reminding me to prioritise my goals this year and for sharing with us at Hearth and Soul.
Hope is my word!
