Meet Our Friend Of The Week Melissa
Do you consider yourself a lover of dogs and enjoy reading all about their adventures? Are you a lover of GRITS – Girls Raised In The South – and always on the lookout for another Southern blogging sister to invite into your ranks? Would you like to meet an award-winning independent author whose pets inspired her to create a humorous series of animal-themed mystery books?

Barking In The Bayou is the place to learn all about dogs and what it takes to be a great pet parent. The blog is a family affair that features the writing and creative inspiration of Melissa – the photography of her husband – and the opinions of two of the most adorable dogs you’ll meet on the web – Bentley, their soulful Basset Hound and “grandog” Pierre, their White West Highland Terrier.

I have always wanted a Great Dane! They just look so majestic and so, so sweet. But so far I think my favorite dog breed has been a Rottie. We have the BEST Rottweiler a few years back. His name was Bogie, and he was the kindest dog. So sweet, and so mellow. He was such a big, gentle giant. I just loved him so much. I tend to like BIG dogs better than little dogs. Little dogs can be such…yippers….always barking. I like the strong, silent type. LOL — all dogs are great, though.
