Wordless Wednesday – Winter Woes Or Spring Fever?

Winter Woes Or Spring Fever?

Weather is such a funny thing.

While the Northeastern United States is currently experiencing blizzard conditions (many states are buried under 2 feet of snow!), the Southwestern US is experiencing record highs. This weekend, after a particularly cold and rainy season, Los Angeles hit a welcome if warm sunny 90 degrees, with everything in a full and early bloom!

For once in a blue moon, Angelenos truly had a sense of what Spring Fever feels like!

Everyone was headed to the beach!

Everyone was happy and smiling for no particular reason!

Have you noticed that when the weather gets nice, your pets get Spring Fever too?

Your cats get up with the songbirds, singing “feed me, feed me!”

They open your blinds and shine the sunlight in your eyes so you don’t have to wait for your alarm to wake you up.

They can’t wait to play! Since they know you might be too tired to look for their toys after losing an hour’s sleep when you sprung the clocks forward, they’ve brought their toys to you – in bed!

They try to “spring forward” every chance they get – through your screens to chase after birds, squirrels, and anything else that catches their fancy!

The list goes on and on.

  1. March is being quite a lion in Delaware, especially considering February was a lamb this year!

We’re still wintery here. We got about 14 inches of the white stuff today. :-/

Oh well, Spring is coming, and we look forward to it with great anticipation.

    Thank you for hosting, Ramona!

Spring has sprung, but old man winter came back with a bit of snow and cold, cold air! 🙂

    Have a great day!

  6. It certainly is a nice time of year when you can head to the beach. And animals are very sensitive to those changes in temperature.

What a nice post and love that photo 🙂

Well we are getting unusually mild weather at the moment in London which we will probably pay for when it moves along LOL 🙂

  8. Thanks for organizing this link up!

We are delighted with all the flowering of trees and shrubs in the desert and the birds that have returned along with humming birds.
    Happy Spring!
    Thanks for hosting!

Cute photos. We got a foot of snow, but Spring is almost here and we had a mild Winter.

  11. Yesterday it was spitting snow and the wind was biting in middle Tennessee; leaving us to wonder and fret over the fate of our already blooming fruit and ornamental trees. Spring wants to be here, but old man winter is putting up a fight!

  12. Up here in the SF Bay Area, it has been a little warm and no rain which is great after a super rainy winter.

  13. Kitties Blue says:

Winter is here again after lots of spring weather. It was 18 degrees with a wind chill of 3 degrees this a.m. We are all quite unhappy as the humans will not let us out on the catio. It looks like the daffodils gave up last night in the cold. Phooey! Hope the warms come back soon…but not the 90s. Today we had a wonderful spring feeling here at the west coast of Sweden, but it can change quickly….i do not hope so.

  15. We’re in the Northeast, so are all too familiar with the blizzard of which you spoke. I’m actually a fan of the cold weather/snow, although I know most people don’t share my opinions on that.

My dogs for sure get spring fever when the weather warms up! They’re so funny. They both know what direction we have to walk in to get to their favorite park. When the weather is nice they always try to pull us in that direction, even when we’re just out for a quick potty run around the block. I think they’d live in the park in the summer if they could.

  16. Robin says:

We thought we were starting to get spring here in Michigan a couple of weeks ago. Now we have snow and it is 14 degrees. Oh, well. God has a plan here! I look forward to the warmer weather that will soon be on its way.

  17. Jean Dion says:

Everyone here is ready for spring. The weather here is cold and wet and just plain yucky. We know the plants love it, but the kitties miss their leash walks!

  18. I don’t have any pets unless you count my kids (sometimes they double as pets). We live in North Carolina and the weather here has been crazy. Just when we thought winter was over, bam! She came back and laughed in our faces. Things finally seem to be settling down now. Hopefully, those states north of us will too.

  19. Kristian says:

We are actually down under (in Australia) so just heading into Autumn now… the rain is UNBEARABLE!

  20. Cristina says:

Spring fever it is to me! Your kitty is so cute!

  21. Wow! 90 is quite high, nothing like that here in the uk but we did make it to 16c last week! And rain and wind the rest of the time! MOL
Have a great week. Purrs ERin

  22. Timmy says:

We still have the cold winds and some little snow/rain/sleet of winter. That meowed we also have really nice sun hat we can enjoy as its puddles move across the floor.

  23. We had a very warm week this past week, but a cooler weekend now. Happy Sunday!

  24. speedyrabbit says:

Yes you are so right about pets and Spring Fever….and that includes Speedy,xx Rachel Speedy’s Mum

  25. Lookin’ out the window, I honestly can’t tell. Schools were cancelled here, due to the storm. But what storm? We hardly got any snow at all and what was on the driveway, has already melted. MOUSES!

  26. Glad that spring has sprung. Stay well!

  27. We are amazed at the rang of weather in America. Yes, its big and stuff, but it still surprises us that people struggle with snow that can be dangerously deep!

    Take care you people OK?

So true! We opened the window in the kitchen on Tuesday and it was a mad dash to get into that window sill. Too funny!

I’m not looking forward to another hot summer in Tennessee. 🙁 Four more years and I’m moving back up north again.

  29. erin the cat says:

90 sounds wonderful, though unexpected. We’d settle for 82f and very light breeze! Hope the weather settles down for everyone pretty soon.
