NLT Reflections Journaling Bible – Review & Giveaway

NLT Reflections Bible L - Create With Joy

NLT Reflections Journaling Bible – Review

I have always been a highly engaged reader – someone who reads with a pen and a highlighter in hand. When someone has something memorable to share, I want to make sure I remember it for posterity. Although I enjoy relaxing with good fiction every now and then, I rarely read just for entertainment. I read primarily to expand my horizons, to stretch my mind, and to introduce myself to new ideas that I might not be otherwise exposed to.

Since capturing important ideas and memorable quotes is important to me during my regular reading times, you can imagine how much more crucial I believe it is to record the things that we hear during our quiet times with the Lord?

NLT Reflections Bible 2 - Create With Joy

The NLT Reflections Bible provides us with a beautiful, distraction-free way to focus on what God is speaking into our hearts during our devotional times. Inside the brilliant turquoise fabric cover of this Bible whose colors reminds me of sea and sky, you’ll find creamy white pages filled with single-column, New Living Translation text, surrounded by oodles of lightly lined, spacious margins to record your precious thoughts!

Now, if you have never written in your Bible before, the prospect of making a mark on those pretty crisp pages might seem a little intimidating, but seriously, once you get started, it’s the easiest and most natural thing in the world to do!

Think of the margins of your Bible as the place you come to have an intimate conversation with God.

NLT Reflections Bible - Isaiah Compressed Left

Here are a few ideas and prompts to help you get started!

  • What is God saying to you as you read through His Word? Write down His message to you in the generous space of the margin!

  • What images does the passage you’re meditating upon evoke? Stamp, doodle and draw them next to the verse!

  • How has God answered your prayers? Mark the dates and His responses in your Bible so you have a record of His faithfulness in your life!

  • What key events are happening in the lives of you and your family that you want your kids to remember? Use the margins to create a spiritual timeline for your family that you can pass down through the generations!

There are so many things you can do with your NLT Reflections Bible! Stay tuned for ideas on how to decorate your cover and more tips for Bible journaling in the days to come!

NLT Reflections Bible L with Illustrated Faith Products

One thing that I like about the NLT Reflections Bible is that the lay-flat binding makes it so easy to write in, no matter what page I open to. I also like that there’s a pretty blue coordinating ribbon to help mark my place! I also appreciate that the 2.25 inch margins are extra wide for more notes or larger hand-writing and the perfect size to fit my Illustrated Faith supplies. The creamy backdrop also makes my colored pens, paints and artwork pop!

I’m so excited about the NLT Reflections Bible in Ocean Blue Hardcover Cloth that I’ve teamed up with Tyndale to offer my US readers a chance to win one! And, if you’d like to begin Bible Journaling with your family and friends, you can also purchase the NLT Reflections Bible in these design options: Sketchbook Black Hardcover Deluxe or Leatherlike Hardcover Mahogany Brown Cover.

You are so creative! I love the colors too. Have a blessed week!

  4. I am interested in this Bible because it has wide spaces for creativity.
I see where some journalists paint over the words of the Bible.
I can’t bring myself to do that.

Thanks for the chance to win this Bible.

I know what you mean Michelle – although I love full page artwork I have trouble covering up the words of Scripture as well (at the very least, if I do have something covering Scripture, I try to keep it light/translucent so that I can still see through it – that’s just my preference).

  5. I am interested in Bible Journaling because it is the time when I can spend with my God, read His word, and write down His promises.
NLT is my most favorite version of Bible. And now they have a journaling Bible, just so awesome!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and review on this Bible. And thank you for hosting the giveaway, too!

    Blessings

The nice (and surprising) thing about Bible Journaling is that you really don’t have to be artistic to do this Jaime – even simple things like highlighters, colored ink and a little decorative washi tape can help you highlight God’s Word without you having to draw a thing! 🙂

  15. Edye says:

Because I want to draw closer to Jesus!

What a neat product! I was doing so well with journaling while I did my scripture study, but a lot of my good habits have gone downhill since I started blogging. This was a great reminder that I should start it up again! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Home Matters Link Party, hope to see you again next week:) #HomeMattersParty

  22. Akaleistar says:

I am interested in Bible Journaling because I like the idea of combining devotions and creativity!

  23. Carrie says:

I am interested in Bible journaling because I love the idea of reflecting on readings in a journal method. When my daughter began school at a Christian school we started our own Scripture journals to try to help her understand the Scriptures she had to memorize. I love the idea of actually doing the journaling in the Bible.

Best of luck to you Cathy – I currently use a notebook and find that the Journaling Bible doesn’t replace my notebooks, but it enhances it by allowing me a place to put the most significant things I want to see and remember in my Bible! 🙂

I also always read with a pen and ruler in hand. I like putting notes on top of the page like an index, and sometimes make an index at the back as well, if the book excites me! I have about 4 Bibles that I write and draw on. So exciting ! I hope you’ll consider me even if I do not live in the US, but I do have a US address!

  26. Morning Joy. What a beautiful gift for someone. North wales doesn’t exactly qualify for entry… One of my daughters journals in her Bible. It is indeed a beautiful way of remembering what Father God says when we are spending time with Him.
    Take care. God bless.

Thanks for sharing Margaret! Yes, North Wales is a little out of the shipping zone, but so thrilled to hear that your daughter is a Bible journaler!

  27. Bubbles says:

It’s such a shame I am in the UK… I would have loved a chance to win this for my mum. She is an avid bible collector lol. I have 5 of her bibles sat on my hallway table (always useful for when the Mormons or JW’s pay a visit) and I love looking through and seeing where she has turned a page or hi-lighted a passage – or sometimes just a word.
I’ll show her this blog post – she’ll love the idea 🙂
    Thank you for sharing x

    Have a wonderful Wednesday 🙂

  30. Hanne T says:

Bible Journaling is a great way to art while do devotionals!

  31. Jessilyn says:

Thanks for the opportunity to try and win this beautiful bible!

  32. I am interested in Bible Journaling because…
Because journaling and drawing help me process as I go. There’s so much I don’t understand, so much I need to sift through, and so much of this has happened with my NLT study Bible. There are aspects of the Lords character that I read and reread, and with Bible Journaling I would have an outlet to creatively go deeper.

Such a great point Molly – Bible Journaling also helps me to slow down, to meditate, and to process what I am reading.
I prefer Bible Journaling in private for that reason: I like the time and space to reflect!

  33. Susan P says:

I would love to try a journaling bible! I never have. Thanks for the giveaway! LattebooksAThotmailDOTcom, in the US

  35. Phronsie says:

I am interested in Bible Journaling because it lets me write my “have to remember this” notes in a creative way. And in a place where I won’t lose them!

  36. bj says:

I got so excited about the giveaway then found it was US only and I’m in the UK. What a shame. I’ll stick to my NIV Bible with all its pencil marks and doodles, although I did stamp and colour the edges of the pages a while back and that makes my heart skip every time I open it. BJ#5

  40. Paula Kiger says:

I am interested in the idea of Bible journaling honestly because I think my daughter would be interested! 🙂

  41. Connie says:

What a beautiful Bible. I have never hesitated to write in my Bible and, like you, I always have a highlighter, pen and pencil in hand, along with a journal. How nice it would be to have this lovely Bible.

  42. Sabrina says:

This looks like a beautiful journaling Bible! I currently have two but am looking for one for my daughter! Thanks!

  43. Connie says:

This is great, I have very bad hand writing so I am always hesitant to write in my bible. I feel like with something like this I would be more apt to write in it.

  44. Thank you for sharing about this journaling Bible. The Lord has created each of us with different learning styles and it’s good to see a Bible that engages so many different ones.

  45. I have always “journaled” in my Bible because I have such a hard time focusing on sermons and often random thoughts would pop into my thoughts as I listened and doodled in my Bible. It really bugged my parents but just like the actual worship service that was how I learned and also how I worshiped – thru music and my thoughts as I heard what was going on around me. Hopefully no one else thinks that’s odd – I’d love to journal as I listen again. 🙂

  46. Colette S says:

I have been interested in bible journaling as a way to remember the extra notes that I study as I go through the bible.

  47. I bought a NLT this year and love it. But it is not a journaling Bible. I can’t read without a pen in hand either. Sounds great!

  48. Stacy Duncan says:

This is a beautiful bible! I’m brand new to bible journaling, this would be a great win to start out! Thanks for the giveaway!

  49. Zoe Schoppa says:

I am interested in Bible journaling because it keeps me focused.
