Wordless Wednesday – National Pet Day

Tsunami-April-2017

Welcome To Wordless Wednesday At Create With Joy!

National Pet Day

Did you know that April 11, 2017 is National Pet Day? This special holiday was founded in 2006 by Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert and Animal Welfare Advocate Colleen Paige to celebrate the joy pets bring to our lives and to create public awareness about the plight of many different kinds of animals awaiting a forever home in shelters and rescues all around the globe.

There are so many ways to celebrate this special day! If you have pets of your own, show them extra love and attention throughout the day!

  • Give them your undivided attention.
  • Play their favorite games with them.
  • Pet them, hug them, tell them how much you love them.
  • Feed them their favorite healthy meals.
  • Make a vet and grooming appointment to ensure that they are healthy and well tended to!

If you don’t currently have a pet but have been considering getting one, why not visit your local animal shelter or contact your local rescue organizations and start a dialog with them to see if your family and one of their residents might be a match made in heaven?

And, why not consider making a donation to your favorite animal or pet organization? Whether you donate your time, talents, or resources, they are sure to be appreciative of your support!

I did not know that April 11 was National Pet Day! I got our pets some special treats “just because” so I hope that makes up for it. We will have to mark our calendars for next year.

Thank you for linking up your blog post with us at the #HomeMattersParty this week.

  21. Wonderful tips for pampering and looking after your pet! How lovely there is a National Pet Day! We don’t have pets now because we travel too much, but we had two cats who lived to be 18 who were really part of the family. They passed away 10 years ago but I still miss them every day! Thank you for sharing this post with us at Hearth and Soul.
