When Daylight Savings Time Ends By Tsunami

Pardon the expression, but for the past few days, we’ve been feeling a bit like groggy doggies around here. You see, we live in a state where Daylight Savings Time just ended, and even though we supposedly regained an extra hour of sleep (which is actually misleading, since we lost an hour sometime back in the spring), when we set the clocks forward or backward, we tamper with time, which really messes with everyone’s circadian rhythms. Purr-haps just as importantly, the time change messes with our mealtimes, which is something you never want to do! You certainly wouldn’t want to make me, Tsunami, miss my Second Breakfast, now would you? I esteem that tradition just as highly as the hobbits from Middle Earth!)

They say that the older you get, the harder it is for your body to adjust. In my mind’s eye, I’m still a spring chicken – but I must admit, naptime comes in as a close second to mealtime as my favorite pastime. Magellan’s favorite pastime is still playtime. Mom has to hide all of the toys when it’s time to feed him, because if she accidentally moves anything on her way to the kitchen, he thinks she’s playing with him and refuses to eat!

But I digress.

In light of the effect of this time change on my body, I am decreeing this a day of rest – and I invite you to join me! Share your posts – socialize with your favorite paw-pals – then, join me in a good old fashioned siesta! Give your body time to acclimate to the seasonal changes. The holidays are just around the corner and exciting things are coming. Rest up now so you don’t miss a moment of fun!

    Such a big yawn!

  4. Awesome action shot! I, too, have been yawning a lot this week. ^.^

Awwww I know just how he feels. I’ve been tired since 8:00 p.m…. and it should be 9… no it’s 8… oh darn, I’m all screwed up. I hate time change. He’s so cute though.. I’m going to have to see if I can catch Charlie doing that. bwahahahaha (Charlie is my new Chocolate lab – love him to pieces). Have a great day!

  7. OMC we know how you feel, Tsunami. We all have a problem with the daylight saving times too, but they debate over it now in our Country, so we hope this was the last DST we’ve had. Cross paws with us, please 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Day 🙂 <3

  8. LOL. Great post. I love the fall back, it is the spring ahead that gets me.

Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful week.

  9. I always wonder why they do time change on Saturday night. They should do it on Friday, so that ones body has enough time to catch up by Monday. Yes, a day of rest.

It always messes with my head when the time changes. It doesn’t matter whether it goes forward or backward. I have to imagine that it is even tougher for the kitties! Manna and Dexter are not happy that their meals are coming an hour later than they expect. I hope that you are all getting some great rest!

  11. Daylight Savings Time messes with my dog Soldier and my cat Peanut Butter. Unfortunately, they still think it’s time to get up at 6:30 am. When I helpfully pointed out to them that it was actually only 5:30 am, they shrugged their indifference to such a minor detail and continued to insist on breakfast. I guess my days will have to continue to stay on canine and feline time!

  12. Valentine says:

Tsunami, I will certainly join you on a siesta. This time change thing is just not right! Humans should leave the time thing up to us cats, ’cause we’d get it right! I’m got double whammy this week, ’cause I had my teeth cleaned by the V-E-T! UGH! Mew Mew!

  13. OK I HATE this clock stuff Its a pain in the rear HUH!!!

  14. Oooh now I don’t need a second invite to have a day of rest. I’ll be along in a minute once Ive finished this very important piece of work (main nap) MOL
    Toodle pip and purrs

Nothing distracts any of us from mealtime. We do not like daylight savings time going away. We want to eat an hour earlier but the humans refuse to feed us and just let us complain for an hour. Plus it’s dark, and they want us to come inside from the catio! Pfft! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

Awww, Tsunami, I feel you. You’re so cute. <3

I actually like it getting dark earlier because it just means my favorite season is almost here…winter. Also, it's nice that there's daylight when I get up at 6:00 am. 🙂
