Review Of The NKJV Ancient Modern Bible: One Faith, Handed Down, For All The Saints
Do you long to learn more about the Bible and about Christianity from the spiritual giants who have impacted countless lives for generations upon generations? Would you like to read biblical commentary from the leading pastors and thought leaders in the church today? If so, make room on your shelf for the NKJV Ancient Modern Bible: One Faith, Handed Down, For All The Saints – a unique Bible that’s been two thousand years in the making!
The NKJV Ancient Modern Bible is a beautifully designed Bible that comes in three print formats:
- White Hardcover with Coordinating Gold Slipcover
- Grey Cloth Over Board with Coordinating Gold Slipcover
- Leathersoft™ Brown
You can also purchase this Bible in e-book format.
The graphic design team did an amazing job on the layout of this Bible, combining contemporary design with traditional classic elements. What I like, graphic-wise, about this Bible is its one-column format, its elegant gold headings and black print on crisp white paper, and the wide margins (which contain both room for note-taking and journaling), and quotes and commentary from everyone from Augustine and Aquinas to Martin Luther to Charles Spurgeon to A.W. Tozer, Billy Graham, and Eugene Peterson!
The Ancient-Modern Bible has features you’d expect in a Study Bible (even though it doesn’t call itself by that name) such as book introductions and full color maps – but it’s also full of unique surprises! For instance, in the back of this Bible, you’ll find pages of full color artwork from the church to meditate on, a nice selection of supplemental articles, and three important creeds of the church (including the lesser known Athanasian Creed).
You’ll also find the biographies of many important church leaders and thinkers inside of this Bible, as well as two coordinating ribbons to mark your place!
The Ancient Modern Bible features the easy-to-read Thomas Nelson NKJV Comfort Print® in 8.5 point print size. The font itself is nice – but, at 8.5 point, it’s much smaller than many readers, myself included, would prefer.
Font size aside, I really like this Bible – particularly the layout and the unique combination of features.
I rate this Bible 5 out of 5 stars.
