Friend Of The Week – Animal Shelter Volunteer Life
As we begin to move into a new season (both literally and metaphorically), I can think of no better blog to spotlight this week than our friends at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life. This award-winning blog features the friendly, adoptable felines of PAWS – a privately-funded, non-profit, no-kill shelter in Norwalk, Connecticut that several of our readers volunteer at!
As I sit writing this post, with my beloved cat Magellan curled in my lap, I am reminded that many of these beautiful cats (like Grim) once had homes and families too and now – for varying reasons – they do not. I know how bonded Tsunami and Magellan are to us and I cannot imagine the heartbreak of a cat being separated from their loved ones.
The cats who arrive at PAWS have it better than most because the staff and volunteers are committed to caring for and loving them until they find their perfect homes. You can see how much love and care they give to cats like Penelope simply by scrolling through their blog, looking at their photos, and reading their stories.
This is such a special place!
Most of us do not live near PAWS and are not eligible to adopt their cats (although we can certainly support cats like Annie through online donations) – but the next best thing we can do is to adopt a cat who is living in our home town!
When I was a little girl, I remember reading a poster that said “When you make a friend with a cat, you make a friend for life”. Won’t you consider making a friend for life and welcoming a cat like Sassy into your home?
Making new friends and deepening existing relationships are two of life’s greatest pleasures. Be sure to visit Animal Shelter Life this week, fall in love with the beautiful cats they’ve featured on their blog, and congratulate them for being our Friend Of The Week at Friendship Friday at Create With Joy?

You too Anita – thanks for joining us! 🙂
What an amazing place PAWS is. I adore cats, and it is so nice to know someone is looking out for their interests like this! Thank you for hosting the party. I’m at number 14 15 and 16 this week. Have a lovely weekend. Stay safe and well.
You too April – can’t wait to see what you shared! 🙂
Ooh, Annie is very pretty and looks a lot like our very own Oliver. I hope all the kitties find furever homes like we did!
Purrs & Head Bonks,
Oliver
Oliver must be quite a striking gent!
Nothing makes me happier than hearing they find happy homes (except, possibly, gazing at their beautiful faces..)
My Dad has been fortunate enough to spend some time with Kevin and Tracey who run this fabulous blog and they are indeed wonderful and caring humans, and wonderful friends too. Their love of kitties is unequaled! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
How lucky you are to have spent time together – would love to visit if I am ever in the area!
Have an awesome weekend and enjoy your treats!
So happy you spotlighted Animal Shelter Volunteer Life. They do so much to help cats get their forever homes. Thanks for hosting. Have a nice weekend.
You too Ellen – hope you and your cats are happy, safe and well! 🙂
Thank you so much for selecting us as Friend of the Week, Ramona! We really enjoy participating in the Friendship Friday hop, and enjoy meeting new bloggers. There are so many amazing bloggers who join up each week, and it’s a real treat to check out the cool and creative things they are sharing. 🙂
By the way, you will be excited to know that Sassy, who waited so long at PAWS, is doing wonderfully in her new home. We adore her, and are over the moon for her and her new mom.
Big hugs to you, Tsunami and Magellan. And thank you again! XO
Kevin, I’m so thrilled to hear that sweet Sassy has found a good home (she reminds me of my childhood rescue, Tinker) and it’s ALWAYS a pleasure to feature you on our blog!
With everything that’s going on in the world right now, I really felt like the best thing I could offer everyone this week was the gift of these beautiful cats.
Have a blessed week and thank you and everyone at PAWS for all that you do! 🙂
Hope your weekend is great!
Thank you Michele – you uhave a blessed weekend too! 🙂
Thank you so much for hosting the party.
Have a beautiful day,
Kippi
You too Kippi! 🙂
What a great organization. I am a cat lover myself. Your comment about how cats bond to people is so true. I was outside in my garden yesterday and when I came in my granddaughter told me my cat was crying the whole time I was outside. He had a household of people inside, so he wasn’t alone, but he still cried because he missed me. We are working on building a screened in porch so he can be out in that at least, but it’s going slow.
What a touching example of cat bonding Amy – my Nutmeg (a Himalayan from many years ago) was the same way!
Makes you feel special and loved, doesn’t it, to be your cat’s “chosen one”?
Oh, what a wonderful way to meet new bloggers! <3
Welcome Robin – so glad you found us! 🙂
Thank you for hosting.
Aw, so many cute kitties! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks Joanne – you too!
Thank you for hosting, and have a great week!
You too Cherryl!
So sad that there are so many cats in a shelter. They are all so beautiful!
