Christmas Is Coming – Are You Ready?
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is almost upon us but as I count down the days, my calendar tells me we are a week away from the big day! Are you ready?
One fellow who’s been enjoying the season is Magellan, the Mighty Ornament Hunter. Every day he gleefully, with full impunity, hunts our delicate glass ornaments off of the tree. He’s single-pawedly turned our home into Ornament Armageddon! Our Living Room is a land mine filled with delicate glass ornaments that we must carefully avoid or risk shattering into a thousand explosive shards. He’s even taken to dragging the ornaments upstairs and presenting them to me as treasured gifts to brighten my day!
Virtually visiting the homes of the Create With Joy community and seeing how members are keeping the Christmas spirit alive during this unprecedented year has brought me great joy. Don’t you love how Amy from A Day Of Small Things is creating Christmas Cozy In The Kitchen? Stop by her blog and see if you can spot the Elf on her Shelf!
Ann at Dabbling & Decorated delighted us with her unique vision of a Polar Bear and Owl Themed Christmas Tree! Of course, polar bears and owls aren’t the only unique wintery wonderland decorating items you’ll find on Ann’s tree. Be sure to stop by to see what other delights Ann filled her tree with!
Fans of Penny’s Vintage Home should not be surprised to find a pretty Christmas tree in Penny’s vintage kitchen – they should be biting at the chomp to see what other Christmas delights she filled her kitchen with! Never one to disappoint, Penny cordially invites us to stop by and take the full-fledged Christmas Kitchen Tour!
This is just a sampling of the Christmas wonders I found at last week’s Friendship Friday party – and, of course, there are plenty of non-holiday discoveries for you to explore as well!
Of course, in keeping with the spirit of 2020, there is heartbreak as well. Gracie – the beloved feline companion of Kevin and Tracey and sister of precious Zoe – recently received her Angel Wings at age 20 and joined other members of her feline family over the Rainbow Bridge. Our hearts go out to our dear friends and we encourage you to visit them at Animal Shelter Volunteer and let them know that you are standing with them during this time of sadness and grief.
In a year of physical distancing, social connections through online friendships are more important than ever. You’re the second person I know who has a cat that takes ornaments off the tree. My other friend had ornaments that looked like cat toys so I thought that was the reason, but apparently not if yours’ is removing bulbs. My cat thankfully has left all my decorations alone for the first year, thank goodness!

Magellan, it sounds like you’re enjoying your Christmas tree, and all of those shiny toys. We only put unbreakable ones on the lower branches, and have been blessed to have cats that (mostly) won’t whack them.
Thank you so much for including the sad news about Gracie’s passing in your post, Ramona. We’re doing okay, and know we made the right decision, but boy, does it ever hurt not having her here with us. We are so grateful for your kindness, love and encouragement during this difficult time.
