Which King James Bible Is Right For You? Three Bible Review & Giveaway

Is The King James Bible Right For You?

When you are purchasing a Bible for yourself and your family, what factors should you take into consideration? One of the most important things to look at is the translation. You want to ensure that the Bible you are reading provides an accurate rendering of the ancient texts in a reverent and God-honoring way.

The King James Version (KJV) has been the trusted translation for millions of believers for more than 400 years! Since 1611, Christians have turned to the King James Version of the Bible for a faithful and beautiful rendering of God’s Word. Its rich tradition has guided generations of pastors, authors, and scholars, while its reverent language continues to shape our words today.

Psalm 90-12

The King James Bible was translated in the beginning of the 1600s. The scholars translating it were among the top scholars of their day. Most were deeply familiar with literature and poetry as well as with theology and ancient languages. They were also intent on creating a translation that would last for generations. To accomplish this, they avoided recent changes to the language. They often used words and phrases that sounded formal even then to ensure the dignity and longevity of the translation.

As an advanced Bible student, I rely upon the King James Bible for word studies. If you use tools like Strong’s Concordance to determine what specific words mean in Hebrew and Greek, those tools use the KJV for the basis of the word study.

If this is your first time purchasing a King James Bible for yourself or a child, you might be wondering where to start. Here are three different Holman KJV Bibles for to consider, based upon your specific need:

Holman KJV Ultrathin Reference Bible Review

Holman KJV Ultrathin Reference Bible

I normally gravitate towards big, heavy-weight Bibles like the Holman KJV Study Bible (above), but I fell in love with the Holman KJV Ultrathin Reference Bible from the moment I slid it out of its protective box! What I love most about this Bible is its portability – it’s so light I can comfortably hold it in one hand! It also easily fits into a large purse, tote bag or briefcase.

Did you know that Holman is America’s oldest Bible publisher and a pioneer in the development of Ultrathin Bibles? I didn’t, but that explains how they were able to squeeze so many useful features into a ultrathin Bible in such a well-designed way!

Some of the features you’ll find inside of the Holman KJV Ultrathin Reference Bible include:

  • Presentation page
  • Center-column cross references
  • Smyth-sewn binding
  • Two-column text
  • Topical page headings
  • Concordance
  • Full-color maps
  • Words of Christ in red
  • 8.5-point type

My favorite feature is the handy dandy charts you’ll find at the back of the Bible. These include a harmony of the gospels, the parables of Jesus, the Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament and the predictions made by Jesus!

The Holman KJV Ultrathin Reference Bible is the perfect Bible to take with you everywhere you go! This is the Bible I didn’t know I needed until I held it in my hands!

The KJV Bible is the one I used growing up so it’s pretty familiar. The Holman KJV Ultrathin Reference Bible looks pretty great but I’d have to give some thought to which one I’d like if I were to win. Thanks. crs(at)codedivasites(dot)com
