The TEXT Bible Review – New English Translation (NET)

Are you looking for a fresh new Bible to kick off your reading plans and accompany your Bible studies this year? Would a translation and format that’s appealing to everyone but designed with students, young adults and new believers in mind excite you?

If so, I encourage you to check out a new Thomas Nelson Bible called The TEXT that’s written in the highly readable New English Translation (NET). You don’t have to be smartphone savvy to use this Bible – TEXT is an acronym for a new Bible study method that invites readers to:

  • Talk to God
  • Encounter God and humanity in Scripture
  • eXamine your heart
  • Talk to others

Reading The TEXT Bible

There are many things I like about The TEXT Bible including its clean navy and white design and the bountiful blank space in the margins for personal note-taking. I also like the ease of using the TEXT method of Bible study – the process is easy to remember and non-intimidating to beginners. Finally, I find the features and study materials inside the Bible interesting and engaging. They are written in everyday language that anyone picking up this Bible should be able to understand!

What will you find when you explore the contents of The TEXT Bible? Lots of useful and engaging features including the following highlights:

  • The Big Q of the Text: Big life questions with short answers.
  • Who is God?”: Close to 100 short devotions on the person and character of God.
  • Praying the Text: Tips for learning how to pray God’s Word right back to him!
  • Get to Know the Text: Brief explanations of people and events found in Scripture.
  • Follow the Thread: An aid to help you navigate the Bible across topics.
  • Anatomy of the Text: Concise descriptions of literary devices and categories
of Scripture found within the Bible, such as parables and apocalyptic books.
  • Terms of the Text: brief definitions of important words to help us better understand and discuss Scripture.
  • Clear and readable 9-point NET Comfort Print® typeface.

Who Is God - TEXT Bible

The Text Bible is designed to teach readers who don’t feel comfortable reading the Bible on their own how to engage with Scripture and how to have a personal relationship with Him. It’s a great resource for personal use, small group use and for personal gift-giving.

I rate this Bible 5 out of 5 stars.

Hi – Thanks for the review of the Text Bible. It sounds like something that could work for me. Does it come in large print by chance? Also, the biggest challenge for me when reading the Bible, is understanding the message. How is God speaking to me? How do I apply this to my situation or my everyday life?
    Thank you! Love your blog.

Thanks so much for your kind words Lynda! This is the first release of The Text Bible and it is not available in Large Print at this time. I doubt if it will be in the future, either, based on its audience the publisher is marketing.

I love your questions – I’m always asking myself those things too – and I think you’ll find that this Bible is good at helping you understand Scripture better. 🙂

Anna, I SO relate to this challenge! I have found that while I have this “idealized” version of what my daily Bible reading time should look like, it rarely seems to work out that way! Many days, I need to “get creative” in how I incorporate my Bible reading into my schedule. Somedays I reflect and meditate more than I read! The important thing is to focus on the quality of your time with God. When you approach the Lord with a sincere heart He will meet you where you are!

  5. Jessica Beard says:

The truth is my biggest challenge is to find a quiet space and time away from my 3 small children. I try to read before they get up in the morning, but it doesn’t always work that way. I do get a lot of Bible reading with my children with their Bibles.

I totally get that Jessica! Finding a quiet moment in a house filled with 3 young children is quite the challenge!
What a wonderful example you are setting for your children in this season, however, as you not only pursue your time with God,
but you share your love of the Lord with them and instill your faith!

  6. Laurie says:

Looks like an easy-to-use Bible. I still like my tried and true KJV, but there are many different kinds of Bibles these days!

Thanks for sharing your review at the Homestead Blog Hop!

The KJV is a great translation – I use it often for study (when I came to Christ that was the translation my church used).
It’s challenging though for people who aren’t familiar with it (you have to be willing to study the words!)

I reviewed this too. I thought this will be a great resource to add to my daily study time.
I appreciate you sharing this with Sweet Tea & Friends this month dear friend.
