Food Allergy & Gluten-Free Weight Loss

Food Allergy And Gluten Free Weight Loss

Are you interested in losing weight and/or improving your overall health? Do you suffer from chronic health conditions where a nutritionally balanced diet could increase your energy and well-being? Are you looking for creative tips and recipes for incorporating healthy dishes into your family’s meal plan?

Then pick up a copy of Food Allergy And Gluten-Free Weight Loss by Nicolette M. Dumke. Don’t be fooled by the title. Most of us can benefit from the information Nicolette provides on controlling our body chemistry, reducing inflammation, and improving our health, even if we don’t have food allergies or celiac disease!

What I like most about this book is the depth of research Nicolette shares in this book. Nicolette believes that “most diets fail because they leave people hungry and don’t recognize how body chemistry, inflammation, and hormones (insulin, cortisol, and leptin) influence fat metabolism.” Her book explains – in great detail – the science behind weight loss.

I also appreciate the extensive collection of recipes – the tips for cooking and baking with specialty ingredients – the information on the Glycemic Index – and the detailed resources she provides!

One word of advice: there is a LOT of information to digest in this book (at least for the less scientifically inclined, like me!) The book’s an invaluable resource, but it’s also, in places, a very dense read. There’s a lot to remember, process, and put into use!

Nicolette encourages each reader to find a way to make the information their own. I plan on taking that advice! I’ll be re-reading her book throughout the year and making small but significant changes in my life!

In that way, I’ll also honor the advice my doctor gave me when he saw me reading this book:

I hope you take that information to heart!

Sounds interesting. I once read a book called “Cooking Without”. That too was for ceoliacs and gave lots of recipes for cooking without wheat, etc. I just may investigate this one as I am trying to loose weight and become more healthy. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Thanks for sharing the information on the food allergy/gluten free program and book. I just posted an article on Sugar and 113 ways it can harm your health. You might find it of interest since it goes along with food allergies /gluten free. When you are on a diet like this, you must avoid sugar. Here is the blog:
    Have a blessed day!

  6. I have friend whose son is on a diet that is gluten free. I will have mention this to her.

Sounds like a good read. The hubs and I watched food inc the other night. It’s no wonder people have so many health issues these days with all the ‘mystery’ ingredients… People think its extreme to go gluten free but being aware of what your own body needs and can tolerate is so important.

  9. Sally says:

Sounds like a very informative book. Following a gluten free diet is very difficult at best so any help I’m sure will be helpful to those who need it. Seems to be a growing problem here in the USA.

My little nephew keeps having a strange reaction to something – they say its a food intolerance or something, although they’ve not pin-pointed which food. Its awful – they suspected dairy but then gluten – he swells up, goes all rashy and has to use steroids to get better. Its great to know that whenever they do find out what it is, there are good alternatives these days.

Interesting. I may have to check this one out. I’ve always thought I had a dairy sensitivity, but recently have been suspecting that it may be related to something else like gluten. Thanks for sharing!

  13. Diane says:

Hmmm. Sounds like a wonderful resource. Something that both my husby and I need. I will be checking this out! Thank you for sharing! And for linking up on NOBH!

My husband was coeliac so we cooked with gluten free ingredients. This book sounds like it has lots of information from which I would benefit.

This is a subject I am trying to tackle this year. My doctor of pain management advised me to eat Gluten free . I am having a hard time trying to even understand what Gluten is. Maybe I should go to the library.~Ames

I’m glad I found this post.
I’m visiting from the Alexa blog hop. I wrote a review of your site on Alexa and hope you will take the time to do the same.

  17. I have a few books similar to this but they are more for anti-inflammation. I know that gluten and sugar really aggravate those conditions in the body…it stands to reason that they would contribute to weight gain too.

Thanks for an informative and great post here.

You’ve given me a lot to think about.

    A+++++++

  18. Leigh says:

Sounds interesting. Glad to hear the word is spreading about gluten free and healthy eating.

  19. I will have to read this. I am GF and sometimes it gets irritating.

    Grrrr.

Especially when I read SOMEONE’S scrumptious looking corn bread recipe!

    ha!

Thanks for the recommendation! I have been abstaining from sugar, flour, and wheat (with a couple of slips) for the past 31 days for a blog series. I think it is definitely something I should continue. I’ll check out this book!
