I first began blogging on Blogger and appreciated its ease.
As my blog grew, however, my needs changed
And I found myself exploring new options.
Now, I’m a self-hosted WordPress blog
And I love the power and flexibility that WordPress provides!

Friendship Friday #7 – Weekend Of February 24, 2012

Welcome to Friendship Friday – a weekend blog hop that’s designed to help you:

  • Foster friendships with other bloggers!
  • Share what’s unique about yourself and your blog!
  • Grow your blog and social media networks!

Are you ready to make some new friends? Then, come join the fun! Please follow these friendly guidelines:

1) Each week, I’ll post a question that’s designed to help you get to know one another a little better. To participate, simply create a Friendship Friday post that includes the Friendship Friday blog hop button and/or a link back to this post – then add your permalink to the party!

You can also participate by adding the Friendship Friday button to your sidebar and answering the Question of the Week in the comments – but I recommend completing Step 1 so that visitors from this blog hop can get to know you, and can more easily interact with you!

2) Please subscribe to Create With Joy by Linky Followers, E-Mail Subscription, RSS Feed Subscription, Twitter, and/or Pinterest and leave a comment so that I can reciprocate!

3) Leave a sweet comment so I’ll know you stopped by! Your suggestions for upcoming questions of the week are welcome too!

4) Visit your fellow participants and get to know them – building friendships is what this blog hop is about! Support the bloggers you connect with by leaving a comment and following their blogs through one of the available subscription methods on their blogs!

This blog hop will be open all weekend so that you have plenty of time to post, link and mingle! Have fun making friends and be sure to join me next week for Inspire Me Monday and Wordless Wednesday!

    Hello Ramona,

This is a great question…I have noticed that as many blogs grow…they often change over from blogger to wordpress. I have wondered the benefits…maybe you can share?

I think you know that I am relatively new (about 2 months now)…and, I have really enjoyed the ease that blogger has allowed me. I thought about actually starting in wordpress actually. I actually looked into first. However, I found that blogger ended up being a little bit more “user friendly”.

How easy was the transfer? Did you feel you lost loyal readers? Did you have to hire someone to assist? So far all of my blog design has been me…I am somewhat cheap, and I am trying to do all on my own…trying to figure out the html, etc. on my own…been a little time consuming…but somewhat rewarding 🙂

Anyway…great question…I would like to see what everyone else will comment on…benefits of blogger vs. wordpress…I guess those are the main two? Especially with all of the changes going on with GFC…

    Great question you have posed…

Sorry for the novel :)…By the way…already had a post scheduled to post today, so that is what I linked up…but…here is my response to your question…always love your link ups as usual 🙂

    Hi!

I blog on Blogger right now. I love how easy it is to use, although it sometimes has a few glitches which have been easy enough to fix.

The one thing I am looking into is a new blog design. I would loooove to design my own, but I’m not a designer, so we’ll see how that goes. I need whites with bright colors and a dreamy quality.

And I always love new bloggy friends!

Best of luck with your new blog design – there are a lot of great options out there as well! Can’t wait to see what you come up with! 🙂

Thank you for hosting as always. I linked up with my answer! I have to say I’m still a blogger gal!

  5. I started off at Blogger, but ran into so many frustrating issues that I decided to defect and go to self-hosted WordPress. While I appreciated the ‘user friendly’ aspect of Blogger, I also appreciate the freedom I have at WordPress to make my blog exactly the way I want it. 🙂 Bummed that GFC is being taken away from us non-Blogger blogs, though.

Thanks for hosting! I linked up. I started at Blogger and moved to WordPress. Now that Blogger is integrated with G+, I kinda wish I had stayed, BUT there are sooooo many more options available for widgets, themes and plugins – OH MY! on WordPress. I’d truly miss them!!

I’m on blogger, but have been thinking on going to WordPress, but I heard you have to buy a domain or name or something & that’s not in our budget right now. I also followed you on Linky follower. Hope you have time to stop by & follow me on mine thanks.

I started with blogger and that is what I am currently using but I am ready for a change and I am wanting to change everything up a bit. My blog needs a facelift and I am ready to get back into blogging full force. I use it as an out and I need that. I am going to do some research on wordpress and see what I think. Well, I guess I have some visiting to do. Have a great weekend.

  9. I am on blogger. I started there. I’ve been hearing so many reasons to move to WP but it sounds expensive and not sure I can find that right now.

    Happy weekend to you!

I’m currently using WordPress and love it! I switched from Blogger way back when and have never looked back. I love how much more flexibility there is in making my blog look exactly the way I want it to.

I am on blogger for SS & BB. At work we use wordpress.
On blogger you have to know HTML (or read) to create the look and feel that is already built in with WP.

  12. I use self-hosted wordpress. I’d like to venture back to a free blogging platform, but I don’t think I’d be happy with it.

    Found you via the ADH.

Great question. I use WordPress because it provides so many tools that help me to fashion my websites and blogs. Yet I’ve noticed that a lot of artistic people prefer blogger. If I’d known that, I might have become a blogger blogger.

  14. I started my blog in Oct. 2011 with blogger. I selected blogger because most of the scrapbooking blogs seemed to used that platform. It has served me well so far. ~ Blessings

Trying to comment with a cat on my arm gets harder every day.
I started with free wordpress blog, not self hosted. then
i started a blogger blog to see the difference. i think both have pros and cons.
A lot depends on how tech savvy one is and how patient you are.

i could have a tutor or mentor

My blog is on Blogger. At the time it seemed to be the most common platform. Thank you for hosting our Friendship party.
