  1. Thanks for hosting! I am a new follower on Google. My best childhood memory is growing up with 6 boy cousins and spending the weekends at our family river. I really had a blessed childhood. What’s yours?

Welcome Julie! Last night I was thinking about my first visit to the ocean. I was 9 years old and I saw the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. I remember learning to jump in the waves and what a wonderful feeling that was! I have loved the beach and the ocean ever since and wish I got to visit it more!

Humm?? A childhood memory? I remember that my Dad used to call me “Big Deal”. Lol I am not sure why, he never had any sons but he was so very happy to have his daughters. I love to think of this but until now I had forgotten. I like to think I was a Big Deal to him because he was always A Very Big Deal to me:)

  3. Meryl says:

Sorry that this is a tough topic for you Janice. I understand completely! I hope you have a great weekend & I hope you’ll join us next week! 🙂

  5. I have some great memories of going to the State Fair. My hair is long and straight and when I was a kid I could sit on it. Every year we went I would go to the crazy hair booth and have them spray color my hair and put it up in a big cone. That had to tease it to get it to stay and it took forever to get out! I would leave it in for a couple days to savor it and make it worth the effort to brush it out 🙂 Sometimes if we went on a weekend my mom would even let me wear it to school on Monday!

We used to play hopscotch in front of our house. Those were the best times. No worries in the world, I don’t know when I started worrying so much.

I remember picking blueberries with my Mom, looking for animal foot prints in the snow and spending long, lazy summer days with my collie, Laddy.

I remember going camping one summer with a friend from school. We picked blueberries – it was so much harder than I thought! Or, perhaps, it was just the hot humid day that made it so. Hope you have a wonderful weekend Sandie Lee! 🙂

    Thanks for hosting once again!
I have lots of fun childhood memories of making mud pies with my Mom, riding horses on my Grandpa’s farm, so many to choose from.

Hope everyone has a blessed Mother’s Day as well! Have a great weekend!!

  10. I try not to dig around in my childhood memories because most of that is not pleasant, but I’ll say a good memory was realizing that throughout it all, when I look back, I saw God’s hand protecting me.

    Happy Friday!

I’m sorry to hear that. I know that not all of us have had pleasant childhoods – but I know that even in the midst of painful circumstances, we can often find at least one good thing to focus on if we choose to… thank you for finding a good memory to share with us! 🙂

Have a blessed Mother’s Day weekend!

You know… this was not a great subject for me either… but I wrote and linked up….
    BTW where’s your answers???
    Have a great weekend!

      Hi Brenda

The day was so crazy, and at the last moment, after writing up one post (with my answer) – I changed topics (!) – so I did not have time to insert my answers into it AND get it out on time – but I did include a response earlier in the comments.

I’ll share another memory though for you… I remember falling in love with animals as a little girl! I have loved animals as long as I can remember and in particular, I have always been smitten with kittens! I think, in a different life, I could be an animal whisperer… they have always been a source of joy for me! 🙂

  12. Meanie says:

OK, so I didn’t post directly on my childhood memories, but I did post about something that I remember from my childhood about my grandparents. I know it will fit in nicely with this week’s theme!! Happy Friendship Friday!!!!

Awesome… it’s ok for everyone to get creative with their posts… the topic is really meant as a jumping off point… look forward to reading your post! 🙂

  13. One of my favorite memories was out on my dad’s boat fishing – and since I was only 4 years old he rigged a broom handle with a length of fishing line and a safety pin as a hook (you know, so in case I accidentally threw it in the lake it wouldn’t be a big deal). 🙂 Of the two of us, I was the ONLY one who caught a fish that day! In fact, I remember being scared of it flopping around in the bottom of the boat after my dad helped me bring it in, so he stomped on it with his big work boots…and when we got home he had me hold it good side out while my mom took a picture. Wish I had that picture! 🙂

I really like the quote you shared:

    “What we remember from childhood

    Eternally seen.”
    Cynthia Ozick

I wrote about some of the childhood memories that I have – the first ones that popped into my head. It was funny that this was the topic for today because a scent triggered a childhood memory just this morning for me.

    Have a great weekend!

Isn’t it funny how something as sublime as a scent can trigger a childhood memory?

  16. Hi There, I haven’t been here to link up in a while but I subscribe via e-mail and the topic grabbed me right away. I just wrote my post “in time”. Thanks for the link up. I’m following you in a few places but I didn’t have you on Google so I’ve got you there too.

  18. I have so many fond memories from my childhood of my family getting together every weekend and swimming and dancing all weekend long. I feel fortunate to have such close ties to my extended family.

  19. I have trouble remembering so long ago! I do have fond memories of visits with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. We had to travel a long way to see them, so it was a special treat when we did. Have a lovely weekend!

  22. Joyce says:

One memory I recall while scary at the time, was when my bother and saw a centipede in our room. To two little kids that thing looked huge, I remember both of us standing on a child size slipper clinging to each other. Currently I follow you on Pintrest and G+, thanks for hosting.

  23. amy says:

I LOVE these quotes! And what a great idea for a question of the week! I’ve been thinking more and more about my childhood lately because my children have been asking me to tell them stories from when I was a little girl. Great memories and love sharing them with my children. Gotta love anything that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling these days. Thanks for sharing and for linking up with NOBH! Smiles –
