Legend – The Stare
Thought For The Day
When addressed,
A gentleman cat does not move a muscle.
He looks as if he hasn’t heard.

This week I am designing my creative space.
In my previous home,
Legend loved to hang out in the Paper Palace.
Now, it appears that Legend’s favorite spot is
The Creative Corner!
Every day, he saunters to the best seat in the studio –
A window perch where he can see what’s happening in the world!
Already he is making new friends in the neighborhood.
One day, a hummingbird flew right up to Legend and
Hovered in front of his nose to say hello!
Legend is a sweet companion by day…
But when night rolls around,
Mister Naughty Pants likes to rear his mighty head!
Mister Naughty Pants does not like being told what to do.
He does not like being asked to leave his favorite hot spot.
He believes he deserves an all night pass to Studio 54!
So, when I announce to Legend that it’s time to go,
By some innate process I do not understand,
Legend undergoes a radical transformation and
Morphs into Mister Naughty Pants!
All of a sudden my sweet cat
Becomes hard of hearing…
Glares at me defiantly…
Quizzically trills at me as if he doesn’t know what I want…
Curls into a cute kitty ball and hunkers down…
Runs around the room in amusement as I try to shoo him out!
In the end I prevail…
But I can’t help but feel that Mister Naughty Pants
Is planning some devious strategy behind
The stare!

Well, doesn’t he look majestic in this pic. More to the point – doesn’t he know it!
This really does show his breeding and the beauty of a well cared for, well groomed cat. Imagine if you didn’t groom him! My own Mister Naughty Pants was asking me for for something for ages this morning. I re-did his water bowl. No. Gave him gravy bones – while he didn’t refuse, it still wasn’t ‘it’. Later – I went towards the pets cupboard and he came with me – I asked him ‘brushes?’ and he got excited. I realised he wanted me to brush him. I said something yesterday but never did it. He’d remembered. As soon as I got the brush in my hand, he was so excited and we had a brushing session for 20 minutes. He did look handsome afterwards!
How lovely are our pets and how rich they make our lives.

Thanks so much Paula – yes, it does take a bit of work to keep their coats looking nice (and they don’t always make it easy) but it’s worth it!
Sounds like you cat enjoys his grooming sessions more than mine… they like the attention but they still like to play swatting games with their combs and brushes! 🙂

Oh my! That is some stare indeed, I would suspect he is planning something to ensure full access to the spot… How neat that a hummingbird visited him!
You’re the first person to comment on the hummingbird Lisa! It was SO cool! Both of us were so surprised! Legend just sat there and stared (but not THE stare…lol) – and I was SO mad at myself that I did not have my camera on hand to capture the momemet!
Wonderful capture of the Stare! I get that kind of stare when I discipline my dog. I love the almost glow of the eyes. Thank you for sharing. 😉
