WOYWW – Tsunami The Junkie

WOYWW Junkie Tsunami 1

Hi. My name is Tsunami and I need your help.

I am addicted to plastic.
I love licking and chewing on plastic bags.
I cannot help myself.

The thing is, I like plastic so much,
I think it’s starting to impact my daily life!

Yesterday, Mom banished me from her craft room.
She said enough was  enough.
She said she was hiding the bags.
She said I was on a “time out”.

Time out.
Is that code for “tough love”?
Whatever you call it,
I don’t like it one bit!

WOYWW Junkie Tsunami 2

When she opened the door and let me back in,
I swore I’d be good.
Really, I did!
I promised  to stay away from those bags!

And, for awhile, I was successful.
I stretched out on the desk.
I let Mom pet my head.
I looked at her with loving eyes and
Purred as she stroked my head.

Yes, I kept my vow.
I was a model cat.

That was the longest five minutes of my life!

WOYWW Junkie Tsunami 3

And then – it happened.
I could not resist the siren lure of the plastic.
It just kept calling my name.

Tsunami… Tsunami… Tsunami…

WOYWW Junkie Tsunami 4

The next thing I know,
I was down on the floor,
Digging through rubble,
Doing anything I could to get my next plastic fix!

WOYWW Junkie Tsunami 5

Now, here’s the clincher.
I think I’m moving on to harder things.
I’m not content to do just soft plastic anymore.

WOYWW Junkie Tsunami 6

You see, while I was digging through Mom’s rubble,
I found these awesome 12 x 12 plastic folders
That she stores her scrapbook papers in and
Thought I’d take a little bite.

Do you know what I discovered?

I like the folders even more than the bags!

So please – find me help – fast!
Winter is coming and I can’t take any more time outs!

    LOL
I love the catty posts, because I am highly allergic to them and seeing photo’s is the closest I can come to them.
    Happy WOYWW!

Hullo there, ah cute cat but very sorry he would be totally banished as far as I can see.. they have their place 😀
Thanks so much for sharing ~ happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz. x #1

  3. Poor Tsunami! I have a girl kitty called Stormy that has the same addiction to plastic bags that you do. I would hope that there would be a 12 step program for addicted kitties but there is not one that I could find. Stormy loves to lick and chew the plastic so much that she will cry when I try to prevent it. Oh my I don’t know what to do. I hope you and your Momma will find a cure and share it will the rest of us poor suffering creatures! Thanks for sharing and have a great week. Vickie #2

Poor Stormy! Tsunami actively seeks out plastic and it is the one place where he actively asserts his will (he is usually such a sweet cat – but you’ve seen what a raging beast he becomes when he’s in its presence!)

I fear that Legend may be starting to imitate his brother… I am now starting to see him nibble on one of my craft-filled bags too!

  4. Bless him. Thanks for sharing, Tsunami always makes me smile! – Sunshine Girl – no. 37

Argh…if Tsunami develops opposable thumbs you wont have a lid left!

  7. Maggie says:

Oh kitty! Plastic does feel good when you chew it…I must admit I too have tried a few. However I favor ripping up paper, especially bills and important papers! Want to talk about a time out when I get caught! jeez…
    Wagging Thanksgiving Wordless Wednesday!

My brother, Legend – he is REALLY into paper!
He gets on a roll in the presence of paper towels!

Can’t wait to gnaw on some Turkey tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

LOL I saw your little kitty doing this and thought I’d see if my cat would do the same … curiousity well he only chewed up the bag I let him but it had to be the harder plastic I couldn’t believe he did it soo funny to watch. He seemed so serious when chewing on it lol

Could be worse… could be catnip!

I’m afraid I’ve never found a cure for plastic addiction, but I will graciously take a cure for mattress clawing if you have one!

      Thanks for the link Sandy!
I think I got some of these when they were kittens I put catnip in them!
They left a catnip trail all over the carpet!
The concept is cool… but I was afraid to put food in it for fear that it might lodge under the sofa and attract bugs!

  22. Oh my gosh your cat is talking to me and I so wanna comment right back to his plastic loving cuteness.

    Aloha Sweet Friend,

The ladies and I are starting to gather a bit early this week so that we can take our turkey loving time mingling and growing together over the next few days.

Thank you for linking up with us last week, thank you for sharing your sweet energy with all of us… thank you for being beautiful you.

Come join us if you please.

Tsunami, you are a handsome fellow, and, apparently, aptly named!

The new kittens just discovered my art room yesterday . . . so far, so good . . .

    🙂

  24. sandy :) says:

I have seen those plastic things that they hide food in maybe something like that to get him to play with that instead.. Good luck with it.. Sandy 🙂 #32

  25. Lisa says:

I have never seen a cat like plastic like that before. What great photos and clever words to go with them. Your cat is too funny. Happy Thanksgiving!

  26. Lucy says:

Hahaha! What a wonderful story. I have a cat that has a thing for chewing cardboard. She’s done it since she was a kitten and always manages to seek out wrapped presents to chew on. Sympathy to you and Tsunami:)

  27. Elizabeth says:

Great post – love the photos of your antics. Just the thing to brighten up a dreary day 🙂

  28. DogsMom says:

Around here we have a baggie addicted thieving puppy. She steals the baggies right out of the box! You would think the human would be smart enough to set them up higher on a table?

Plastic bags are for piddling on, our kitties say. The human would much rather have a few bite marks than a yellow puddle.

Find a way to enjoy your time outs – like thinking of ways not to get caught!
But please do not swallow the plastic.

I must meet your baggie-addicted thievig puppy. He sounds like a FUN companion!
Well, I chew on the bags… and sometimes get in trouble for trying to swallow the plastic for an added thrill…
But I have yet to get my head stuck in the handle of a plastic bag as my brother Legend has!!!

(Still, me thinks my Mom worries about me too much and should just let me have my fun!)

  29. Caro says:

Tsunami does make me laugh! what fantastic photos of his addiction! Thanks for sharing. Caro #60

  30. Kristiina says:

OMG Tsunami is gorg! I once had a kitty that would steal my broccoli off my plate, so weird.

  31. Jane Snyder says:

She/he is a beautiful cat. I can see why you give in. I have two cats and they like to eat my Prima flowers. What good is a craft room if your cats can’t come visit!

    • Create With Joy

      says:

Oh, Prima flowers – I can see that being a very expensive kitty addiction!
Good thing I keep those locked away in tins and glass jars where my fangy-toothed fur purrs can’t get a hold of them (yet!)

  32. Deeyll says:

You had me so curious I had to google it…found an interesting link: http://www.vetstreet.com/our-pet-experts/why-does-my-cat-like-to-chew-plastic

Anyways, I’m thankful my dog doesn’t have a chewing fetish…other than his regular chew toys, of course. 🙂 Thanks for sharing Tsunami’s story!
