Wordless Wednesday – Insomnia

Tsunami - Insomnia

For the past few weeks,
I haven’t been sleeping as well as I should.
I think I’ve discovered the reason for my insomnia.

My name is Tsunami and I am a bed hog!

I like to stretch out across the bed at night
Even if it means a paw in your face!

I like to snuggle against you while you sleep
Even if I heat you up like a furnace!

I love to dive under the covers with you
Then pull them off when you get cozy!

The other night, I got up because
I was tossing and turning as
Tsunami took up more and more of my space.

Three hours later I returned and
Tsunami was still in bed!

I used to be flattered when the cats curled up with me.
Now I’m beginning to see the truth in
This quote from Jules Champfleury:

When dogs leap onto your bed,
It’s because they adore being with you.
When cats leap onto your bed,
It’s because they adore your bed.

Have a fabulous time at this week’s party
(And I hope you got a good night’s sleep!)

  3. Nina says:

Such a fun little poem about cats & dogs in the bed! Being awakened in the middle of the night is not funny, no matter if it’s your spouse that snors, your child that is having a nightmare, or your cat that is stretching … I hope you sleep better tonight 🙂 !

  4. Liza says:

    Tsunami is so cute.

  5. Meryl says:

It is a nice read. I did have a pet cat back home but that was a long time ago. I do miss her actually when I read your post 🙂 Hopping by from Twitter ‘LuckyMomofKK’. I have ‘liked’ you in facebook too. Feel free to visit my blog too 🙂 Cheers!

  7. Well, really now! You’d think humans had the right to sleep in their beds! Come on now!

  8. Linda says:

Thanks again for Wordless Wednesday! Funny about the cat. We used to sleep with a huge dog until I kept getting ticks on me. Now she sleeps on the floor on a couple of big blankets. Take care, Linda

  9. Marit says:

The very reason the dogs are not allowed to sleep on my bed. I would be so grumpy having to fight for my space lol.

  12. LOL. Funny quote, and love his beautiful fur.

  13. I am a huge insomniac – I actually missed work yesterday because of it. Yes sometimes my insomnia is attributed to my dogs making too much noise or jumping on the bed. Enjoyed your post.

  14. So true! Our kitty (who has since passed on at the ripe age of 21) use to crawl into bed and sleep on my legs. She was so old and cranky that I didn’t want to move and disturb the poor girl.

  16. Paula J says:

Tsunami looks very rested 😉 Same thing happens over here at my house.

That is so true and so funny! Thankfully, we keep shoving our daughter’s kitten off our bed, so that she knows she is not welcome. She finds other people to bother.

Who’s Bed is it anyway? 😀

In the glory days of my youth I used to burrow under the covers with Daddy Kiril, and lay for hours in he spot where he bent his knees.

No big deal leaving to make a Litterbox run, and then returning to be let back in once or twice.

I also loved the sunspot on the bed during the day, or burrowing undecover on cold days.

Now, as I approach my dottage, the only change in these routines is that at night, I only occasionally check in undercover, and then only for a few minutes next to Daddy’s chest, and nothing more.

Miss Elvira, for some reason, prefers the space under the bed for naps and snoozes, and rarely visits the top of the bed at all.

  20. Charlotte says:

    A bed hog sounds familiar! :o) x

  21. Joyce says:

lol What a cute story! My Charlie is the one out of 6 who won’t settle for the foot of the bed. He nestles right next to my ear and “purrs his brains out” in the middle of the night! Until I read your quote, I thought it was ‘cuz he loved me so much! Guess that behavior is cat talk for “hey, either move over or get up. I want more pillow!”

I’m said to be the one to burst your bubble Joyce!
I used to have a cat who always slept and curled right on my pillow, above me head.
I thought is was SO sweet – he loved me SO much –
but every morning, I discovered that he had somehow kicked me OFF of the pillow during the night –
and he wa ON the pillow stretched out or curled nicely in a cozy kitty ball!

To keep our dogs out of bed, we put it on a platform a foot higher. We got tired of waking up with the dogs sleeping right next to us on the pillow.

Our cat, Luna, is pictured in our wordless wednesday post. We love our cats.

  28. We never have fewer than five of our eight in bed with us and they all like to sleep horizontally except Misty May, who is the cat on my head, and sleeps on my pillow. Purrs and hugs.

Oh no!! My two cats do the same darn thing to me…along with my two kids. Oh, the nights I’ve had! lol. I turn the heat off at night, so right now I’m okay with everyone keeping me warm…:-)

  33. Angela Johnson says:

    Here is my WW Post.

  34. Dawn says:

Silly cats! They just allow us to live in their house. lol!

  35. Sarah says:

Love it! My kitty climbs under the covers and sticks his head out under my chin. If I roll over, he switches sides..he hates if I have my back to him, lol!

    • Create With Joy

      says:

Sarah, my cats do this too!

One of Tsunami’s nick names is “Hip Hop”! I call him this because he is like a bunny.
If he is on one side of the bed facing you – and you roll over – he will “hip hop” over you to get to the other side!
He will also “hip hop” over you until he finds just the right spot to get cozy!

Keep in mind, this cat weights more than 20 pounds.
Having a huge beast “hip hop” over your head at night can be QUITE unsettling!

  36. veronica lee says:

Once again, thanks for hosting this !

    Happy Wednesday!

  37. Mimi says:

Oh my, I know what that’s like. Simba always likes to sleep half on my head, half on the pillow. Sammy likes to sleep either on me somewhere or down by my feet and Pearl, she curls up next to me. You’d never know I had a queen size bed! lol I agree, they do cause insomnia!

  38. Brandie says:

    Reason #629000 why I don’t have a cat LOL

  39. Heather says:

Aw, Tsunami just wants to keep you warm. *g*

  40. Jackie says:

Well you’re just like my little dog and my hubby and Rascal if we let him in at night. Rascal, a cat much like you is the worst offender!

Thanks for hosting. saw your badge and headed right over. I need to make one for myself too. I had a page added to exchange badges and I definitely want all of yours. Please drop over and grab some free link love at my place too.

I was out hunting today and got a pretty good shot in I think. I hope you get some sleep. I haven’t been able to get a good night’s sleep in weeks!

    Thanks for hosting!

    Happy WW!
