Happy WOYWW to you, dear friends! Today I’d like to share a book that I recently received from my friend, fellow blogger and author Cym Lowell. The book is called 500 Handmade Books – Volume 2 and was compiled by Julie Chen (the book artist, not the television personality!)
500 Handmade Books, Volume 2 contains an amazing collection of “provocative and visually dynamic works” that range from the traditional to the experimental to the boundary-pushing.
Aside from the Introduction, there isn’t really anything to read in this book – there is just page after page of stunning photographs of one incredible book after another!
Books that unfold, unfurl and flip.
Books that range from simple in style to earthy and interesting to bold and beautiful.
Books that incorporate every object imaginable into their design: wasp nest, glass, metal, twigs, and “found” objects of all types!
If you are a paper crafter, mixed media artist, or altered book lover, you may want to have a hankie nearby to collect the drool as you peruse this book!
For more photos – or to add this beauty to your wish list – visit 500 Handmade Books, Volume 2 on Amazon!
Hope you have a fabulous week!

That is a very cool book, Joy! My attention was drawn to the “mitten” book! I might have to try something like that.

Interesting book. I get a thing about bookmaking once in a while. Last time bought all the supplies and now the urge to use them.
WONDERFUL!!! Making books is one of my favorite things–my post this week even has one!
(And thank you for the invitation to join in Inspire Me Mondays, I do intend to play along eventually, but you know, some weeks it’s hard enough to get a woyww post in! Oh, yes, that would be THIS week!!)
Happy WOYWW to you!

Thank you so much Doylene! I hope you are having a fabulous week!
I have a friend who would love this book, although she may wish they all came with directions. There is so much creativity in there. My hubby has a friend who does found art such as wall hangings or objects d’art and it is amazing to see what he finds and what he does with them. Now doing that and incorporating them into a handmade book is just one more interesting step!
