Lowcountry Boneyard – Book Review
If you are a fan of cozy, quirky mysteries… if you enjoy solving intricate who-dunnits with unexpected twists and turns around every corner… if you enjoy strong female protagonists and aren’t afraid of things that go bump in the night – then you are going to love Lowcountry Boneyard – the third book in the Liz Talbot Mystery series!
USA Today best-selling author Susan M. Boyer has truly hit her story-telling stride in Lowcountry Boneyard, the novel that dares to explore the question that everyone in Charleston is asking:
Where is Kent Heyward?
For those of you not in the know, Kent is the twenty-three-year-old heiress from one of Charleston’s oldest – and wealthiest – families who mysteriously vanished a month ago.
After a police investigation lull, Colton Hayward, hires private investigator Liz Talbot to follow the trail and find his daughter.
The Charleston Police believe that Kent simply got tired of her father’s overbearing nature and left town of her own accord. After meeting Colton, Liz understands why.
But behind the garden walls South of Broad, as Liz begins to investigate, she cannot ignore the family secrets that start to pop up like weeds in the azaleas.
Violent arguments between Kent and her parents…
Eccentric twin uncles…
A gaggle of cousins that covet the family fortune…
Friends and acquaintances who aren’t exactly who they appear to be…
The deeper Liz digs – the more secrets she uncovers – and the more danger she finds herself in!
Will anyone ever discover what really happened to Kent Hayward?
One unique part of the Liz Talbot Mystery series is that Liz relies on business partner and boyfriend Nate and best friend Colleen – a “friendly ghost” that only she can see and hear to keep her safe during the course of her investigations. But Lowcountry Boneyard explores what happens when death is on Liz’s doorstep and Nate and Liz are not around!
Lowcountry Boneyard is my favorite book in the series so far – a perfectly told story where every detail and dialog advances the storyline.
You can read Lowcountry Boneyard as a standalone book, but be forewarned: if you do, you will soon be clamoring to read the rest of the series!
For pure fun and escapism, put on your problem-solving cap and see if you can figure out:
Where is Kent Hayward?
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
