The Battle Plan For Prayer – Book Review

The Battle Plan For Prayer

Do you hunger for a deeper prayer life but aren’t sure where to begin? Have you tried to establish a daily prayer habit but never had much success in getting it off the ground? If so, consider The Battle Plan For Prayer – From Basic Training To Targeted Strategies by Stephen and Alex Kendricks essential reading!

The Battle Plan For Prayer was written by the award-winning siblings who brought us War Room, and is designed to teach us how to pray powerfully and to cultivate a deeper relationship with God through prayer. The brothers write:

Answered prayers aren’t merely highly unlikely coincidences. They are fingerprints of a loving God who invites all of us to draw closer to Him, the one who made us all and “is not far from each of us, for in Him we live and move and have our being.” – (Acts 17:27-28)

That is our hope for this book – that you not only experience the joys of answered prayer more fully, but that you’ll get to know God more deeply and fellowship with Him more personally as you travel these pages.

The Battle Plan For Prayer is a wonderful resource filled with everything you need to lead a more prayerful life!

Fervent – Book Review

Fervent

I will say this up front: I absolutely loved Fervent – A Woman’s Battle Plan For Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer! Fervent is written by Priscilla Shirer, the daughter of Dr. Tony Evans, and one of the stars of War Room.

What impressed me most about Fervent and what drew me in from word one was Priscilla’s ability to convince us of how urgently we needed to pray – about how real the spiritual battles we face are – about how devious and cunning a spiritual enemy we have. She impresses upon us that we are at war – that at every moment of the day, our enemy is actively scheming against us and doing a very effective job of keeping most of us from praying – and provided us with time-tested battle strategies to fight back.

Priscilla writes:

This is war. The fight of your life. A very real enemy has been fighting and scheming against you, assaulting you, coming after your emotions, your mind, your man, your child, your future. In fact, he’s doing it right this second. Right where you’re sitting. Right where you are.

But I say his reign of terror stops here. Stops now. He might keep coming, but he won’t have victory any more.

Because it all starts falling when we start praying.

Fervent is a book you need. I encourage you to add it to your spiritual library today!

This Means War – A Strategic Prayer Journal – Book Review

This Means War

If you’re looking for a way to engage your teens in prayer, This Means War – A Strategic Prayer Journal is written with them in mind!

This interactive journal is formatted as a prayer boot camp that encourages teens to tackle their biggest questions about prayer in a way that’s both personal and purposeful.

This will be a fun and effective book for teens to work through!

Prayer Works – Prayer Training And Strategy For Kids

Prayer Works

Prayer Works is a combination devotional / activity guide, written for 8 to 12 year olds, that helps children in this age range discover how prayer works and just how powerful prayer is.

The first half of the book contains thought-provoking devotions and prompts that teach children how to pray biblically.

The second half of the book contains perforated journal pages that kids can use to write specific prayers and post them on the walls of their prayer room – just like the characters in the movie!

Peter’s Perfect Prayer Place

Peters Perfet Prayer Place

Peter’s Perfect Prayer Place is an illustrated story book – written for children 4 to 8 years old – that teaches young readers an important lesson about talking to God! When Peter sees his Mom pray in her special prayer room, he searches for a special place of his own to pray – and learns that no matter where he prays, that God hears him!

What I like most about this book is that there is an interactive page of questions at the end of the story to help parents discuss and reinforce the lessons with their children – as well as stickers that children can use in their prayer journals to track when they pray – and when God answers!

      Hi Carl,

Thanks for entering the giveaway! I haven’t seen the movie yet either but I want to after watching the clip that I shared! I really love interactive journals and thought This Means War was awesome! I took a sample page of the innards and – since you mentioned it – I’ll try to tweet it out to you in a bit! 🙂

  2. I didn’t even know there were books associated with the movie. You’ve definitely convinced me I need to read Fervent, and I love that there are books that will equip my children as well!

Thanks Michelle for entering our giveaway! I enjoyed all of the books but Fervent really drew me in from the moment I started reading! I am a huge fan of Dr Tony Evans (who I did not know was her father until I started researching the books for this review) and she has inherited her father’s engaging style!

Priscilla (the author of Fervent) also plays the wife in the movie. I thought it was very cool that she was involved in this project both as an actress (her first job) and as an author!

  3. Dawn says:

I’m sure you and your grandma will particularly appreciate each of these books after seeing the movie. Best of luck to you!

The part I loved best is when the elderly woman is praying down heaven and God’s love on our nation. This scene brought me to tears.

I could hardly wait to see the movie and was not disappointed! Even if I don’t win I’m going to buy the resources. Blessings to you and yours!

  10. Chris says:

The movie was great and looks like these books would be an excellent follow-up to the movie. We clapped at the end of the movie and there was a “Hallelujah!” What an excellent way to draw our nation back to the Lord and prayer. I am going to buy one or two of these books even if I don’t win. Thank you!

  14. Gretta says:

I have seen the movie and it was SO powerful! I loved how it so clearly presented the gospel message in this film and how it taught the need for and power of a REAL prayer life, not just “I prayed, check the box” prayer life. Our kids were especially impacted by the War Room and how to journal/write prayers too and I praise God how He is using this film to change and impact lives.

  17. Debbie W. says:

I loved the War Room movie. We went to see it last week. I’ve been trying to find a spot to use in my house besides on the floor in front of my sofa. Last night I was praying in bed as we go for tests today for my husband. And I said God You know sometimes this bed is my War Room as I laid my hand on my husband and prayed. Love you are giving these away. May they bless the family that receives them.

      says:

      Dear Debbie,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on War Room with us! What I love, as I read through everyone’s feedback, is how much of an impact this movie is having on everyone’s lives – people are walking out of the theaters with the desire to strategically pray!

I just recently started using an app on my phone called Trello that allows you to create visual Boards of all types. As I was reading your comment, the thought came to mind that even a tool like that could be effectively used as a “war room” in one’s pocket!

It’s going to be really exciting to see where God sends these books – and whose heart and minds He is preparing for them! 🙂
