Come Empty – Pour Out Life’s Hurts And Receive God’s Healing Love – Book Review

Come Empty

Come Empty – Book Review

Show me where it hurts.

These are the words that Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith – an Internal Medicine physician – often utters to her patients throughout the course of her work day.

As a doctor, she knows that in order for you to rid oneself or the pain that you are experiencing in your daily life, you must first identify its source. But, she also knows that not every pain that we experience is physical – and that many of hurts that we experience can only be healed by The Great Physician.

In Come Empty – Pour Out Life’s Hurts And Receive God’s Healing Love, Saundra Laura-Smith challenges us – for the next 50 days – to participate in a 50 Day Jubilee Challenge.

Saundra explains that Jubilee, in the Old Testament, was a time at the end of a 49-year cycle when, among other things, those in bondage were set free.

Saundra offers additional biblical insights about Jubliee in the book, and has created a process to help you spend time with God and pray for healing and wholeness in your life.

Saundra asks:

What would happen if, for 50 days, you went deep into the places of your greatest pain? What would occur if, instead of coming with an agenda, a list, or a specific request, you came before God‘s presence, empty in anticipation of being filled? What would happen if you brought your lingering questions and your unanswered prayers to the One you feel is not replying? What benefits would you find in daily communicating with the Prince Of Peace, the Healer, the Deliverer, the Lover of your soul? What miracles would be possible if, for 50 days, you made time to spend just five minutes before God, expecting to receive relief, healing , restoration, redemption, comfort, and freedom form past emotional and spiritual wounds?

Come Empty contains 80 devotions. For the 50 Day Jubilee Challenge, you pick 50 devotions that speak to your personal situation and use them to move daily through the challenge. There is a topical index in the back to guide you in your selections, or just select the ones that speak to your heart.

I have not had the opportunity to participate in the 50 Day Jubilee Challenge as of yet – but I am planning to do so. My impression of Come Empty is that it has the potential to offer a profound and powerful experience of healing and insight for those who are ready to take the journey.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Oh yeah, love the concept with this one. She sounds like a people’s writer where she is talking to you and not at you! Catch my drift? Once again you did a wonderful review. Thanks so much for sharing.
