And It Was Beautiful by Kara Tippetts – Book Review

And It Was Beautiful

And It Was Beautiful – Book Review

If you knew that you were dying, how would you live?

Would you succumb to fear, bitterness, and regret – or would you not only live out your remaining days with grace, gratitude and joy, but spend your time teaching others to do so as well?

Living with stage 4 metastatic cancer isn’t easy – especially when you know you will soon be leaving behind a loving husband, four beautiful children, and friends and family who love you deeply.

But Kara was special. She didn’t focus on the things she lacked. Instead, she chose to spend her time celebrating every moment she had.

Kara touched us because she always managed to praise God and share His grace. even in her most difficult moments.

Kara is now in heaven – she went to be with Jesus on March 22, 2015 – but she continues to speak to us through her posthumously published book, And It Was Beautiful.

And It Was Beautiful – Celebrating Life In The Midst Of The Long Good-bye is a collection of Kara’s writings, compiled from her blog, Mundane Faithfulness. The book is arranged in acts, like the acts in a play – not strictly chronological, but loosely following the storyline of her life.

The book begins with the first moments when she began her blog and was diagnosed with cancer. The book ends with a letter she wrote for her readers, months ahead of her passing, to be published upon her death, and a poem.

You will find blessing and encouragement on every page of this book – even if you need a tissue or two along the way!

Kara gave us the gift of her life when she was with us, and through And It Was Beautiful, she gives us the gift of her life in her passing.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I’ve heard a bit about Kara Tippet’s inspirational story. Just reading your post reminds me to say a prayer for the work that her husband carries on for his children and church. Thanks for sharing at the #LMMLinkup.
