Annabel Lee – Book Review
Fourteen miles east of Peachtree, Alabama, a secret is hidden.
The secret’s name is Annabel Lee.
I have a secret to tell you.
Every now and then, I like to read a story that’s a little bit creepy… a story with characters that are so off kilter, I hope I never encounter the likes of them in real life… a story that keeps me up all night and makes me want to turn on every light in the house… and yet, has me so hooked from the first moment I pick it up, I simply can’t put it down.
If you find those kinds of stories appeal to you too, then you won’t want to miss Annabel Lee – A Coffey & Hill Novel by Mike Nappa.
Here’s how we are introduced to Annabel Lee – here’s how the author draws us into the book:
Uncle Truck keeps a German Shepherd on his farm that’ll eat human fingers if you feed ‘em to it just right.
I know this because I have seen that dog. And I have seen them fingers.
Move over, Cujo: there’s another terrifying canine in town.
Annabel Lee Truckson is an eleven year old girl who lives with her Uncle Truck – a man who’s more feared than respected. For reasons unknown to Annabel, one day her Uncle Truck locks her in a bunker with the finger-eating dog who he instructs to protect her, and gives her instructions not to open the bunker for anyone, including him, unless they provide a secret safe phrase.
Learning about Anabel Lee from her first-person perspective is a fascinating read – but she’s only one of the memorable characters you’ll meet in this story!
Trudi Coffey – a private investigator and Christian who is struggling with bitterness towards her ex-husband and ex-partner after a terrible betrayal – finds herself on a life-threatening mission with her husband when they find themselves involved in an investigation involving Truck.
And then there’s The Mute – a former Special Forces sniper with a mysterious connection to Truck.
If you love thrillers – if you love suspense – if you love getting in on the ground floor of what promises to be an exciting series – then by all means, add Annabel Lee to your reading list!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
