Whole: Restoring What Is Broken in Me, You, and The Entire World – Book Review
If you are looking for a book that beckons you to examine the places of your life where brokenness exists while inviting you on a journey of spiritual restoration, then Whole: Restoring What Is Broken In Me, You, And The Entire World by Steve Wiens is a book you will not want to miss!
In Whole, you will examine the redemptive stories of both biblical and contemporary sojourners and explore how their stories intersect with yours as you ask five vital questions:
- Where Are You?
- Am I My Brother’s Keeper?
- What Are You Seeking?
- Where Are You Going?
- What Will You Bring?
As you study the journey of the Israelites from slavery to freedom, you’ll also explore what the concepts of Exodus, Wilderness and Promised Land look like in your own life.
There are so many things that I like about this book. First, the writing is beautiful, profound and deep, allowing us to reflect on how our lives intersect with Scripture. Second, as the author delves into the meaning behind key words in the Bible, he brings fresh insights into the concepts we are studying (there’s even a glossary in the back to help you track the Hebrew words you are learning!)
Finally, there are questions at the end of each chapter for reflection and discussion that enhance your application of the material and make this book perfect for sharing with a friend or a study group.
Whole is a gem of a book that you will want to read through slowly and savor, with pen and highlighter in hand – and then go back and read again!
Steve writes:
The Bible itself is whispering something, if we have the patience to hear it. And we are – all of us – caught up in it, whether we know it or not. The stories are sometimes epic and transformative, other times punitive and tribal. And yet the river of the Scriptures flows toward restoring everything that is broken.
Uncovering the secrets buried in the Scriptures will help you tell your own secrets.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

This sounds like a book for me.
Most of my life I have struggled with brokenness.
But, I must say the Lord has only recently begun to rejuvenate me.
