The Last Arrow by Erwin Raphael McManus – Book Review
When you come to the end of your days, Erwin McManus says that you will not measure your life based on your success or your failures, but on whether you have lived a life of no regrets – a life where you have left nothing undone.
Have you spent your life passionately pursuing the hopes, vision and dreams that God has placed upon your heart? Have you taken risks when necessary to pursue the improbable or even the impossible? Have you shot every arrow that’s been placed in your quiver so that when the end comes, you are ready to go because you have given this life all that you have to give?
If these questions make you uncomfortable – if you’re storing up your arrows for a rainy day – then fear not, there’s still time to make a change! Pick up a copy of The Last Arrow: Save Nothing For The Next Life by Erwin Raphael McManus and begin living the life you were born to live!
The Last Arrow is an extremely inspirational book that shows us how God can transform the most unlikely people into vessels He can use for His extraordinary purposes. This influential pastor provides us with glimpses into his life, as well as the lives of several Bible characters, and provides us with wisdom and principles to apply to our own lives.
Here are some words of wisdom from the book:
So often, when we’re frantically trying to discern what God wants to do with our lives, we evaluate opportunities and never fully consider relationships. Who are the people you have bound your life to? Who are the people in your life to whom you have declared, “I am with you?” The future that God wants for you will never come at the expense of the people he brings into your life. That doesn’t mean you don’t lose people along the way. It doesn’t mean there aren’t people you don’t have to leave behind. It does mean you don’t live for yourself and yourself alone.
And here’s some practical advice:
Whatever you do, you need to find your tribe… Finding your tribe is not about being of the same color or same ethnicity or same history; it’s about being of one heart and mind. So whatever you do, whatever it takes, wherever you need to go, whatever you need to do, find your tribe and begin to walk together. Your best future is waiting in your deepest relationships.
What I like about The Last Arrow is that in this book, Erwin challenges us to take a deep, long look at our lives and to live better – to be more – to stretch ourselves further – to not settle in any aspect of our lives.
The Last Arrow is a gem of a book. I encourage you to give yourself this gift!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
