Stones Of Remembrance: Healing Scriptures For Your Mind, Body, And Soul – Book Review

Have you heard of Dr. Daniel Amen? He’s the “brain doctor” that everyone is talking about. A few months ago, he wrote a book called Memory Rescue, which presents his latest program and tips for promoting brain health and memory retention. I haven’t had the opportunity to read that book yet (I just added it to my Amazon Wish List) but in the meantime, I’d like to share Stones Of Remembrance: Healing Scriptures For Your Mind, Body, And Soul with you.

Stones Of Remembrance was published as a companion book to Memory Rescue to provide Christians with a way to grow spiritually while strengthening their brain’s ability to function well. In his Introduction to the book, Dr. Amen writes that one of the ways that God designed us to connect to Him spiritually is through memory (remembrance). In that context, knowing God’s promises – meditating upon them – and obeying His commands are not only an essential part of our Christian lives, but memorizing His Word becomes a vital part of every aspect of our spiritual, emotional and physical well-being.

If you are interested in memorizing Scripture, Stones Of Remembrance provides tips and inspiration to help you past the challenges associated with this spiritual discipline. He provides us with a pneumonic device – REMEMBRANCES – to connect them with the Twelve Spiritual Disciplines For Improving Your Memory (which he also provides key verses for in the book).

You’ll find lots of inspirational Scriptures to memorize in this book for important circumstances you’ll face in life as well as the Twelve Verses Every Christian Should Know. Dr. Amen also provides Tips For Memorizing Scripture, Healthy Snacks For Boosting Your Memory, and Easy Exercises To Help Improve Your Memory.

What I like about this book is that the verses and tips that Dr. Amen provides is highly inspirational.

If you are interested in the inspirational aspects of this book, then Stones Of Remembrance can stand on its own, but if you are truly interested in the health advice that Dr. Amen has to offer on brain power and memory retention, I’d recommend combining this with Memory Rescue for best results.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Wow this book review is awesome and right on time. I love it. My husband works as the GM at an Independant living place but as I volunteer there I see many have issues with their memory. I will be saving the link to this book. I might be purchasing many!
