It’s Suppertime by James Gresham – Book Review

It's Suppertime

It’s Suppertime: A Year Of Devotions For The Lord’s Supper

If you attend church, what is your favorite part of the service? I love worship – I crave a good message – but there’s something special about spending a few moments of intimacy with my Lord and Savior at Communion time.

During this time, we are invited to come before Jesus, to quiet our racing thoughts, to pour out our hearts before Him, and to reflect on the amazing thing that happened at Calvary:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. – John 3:16

To help us reflect on the meaning and mystery of The Lord’s Supper, James Gresham has written a unique book called It’s Suppertime: A Year Of Devotions For The Lord’s Supper.

It’s Suppertime contains 52 devotions that direct our thoughts to Calvary in a fresh and inspiring way. Each devotion is easy to read while presenting the truth of Christ’s sanctifying work in our lives in a fresh and inspiring way.

James writes the devotions from a variety of perspectives, citing news stories, historical events, every day experiences and familiar hymns as his sources of inspiration. He incorporates Old and New Testament scriptures into the devotions to reinforce the themes and to help us prepare our hearts for the Lord’s Supper.

It’s Suppertime is a great devotional to use for personal reflection or to share with your family before each service as preparation for communion. It’s particularly well-suited for those who are newer to the faith.

I rate this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.
