May It Be So: Forty Days With The Lord’s Prayer – Book Review
I’m not sure what I expected when I sat down to read May It Be So: Forty Days With The Lord’s Prayer by Justin McRoberts & Scott Erickson, but this unique and simple book of prayers is nothing like what I thought it would be (and in this instance, that’s a good thing!)
Are you feeling battle-weary and in need of rest? If so, then May It Be So is the perfect companion for to prepare you for a time of refreshing from the Lord!
This short book provides us with the opportunity to reflect on various aspects of the Lord’s prayer, line by line, without insisting that we pray in a certain way. The unique features you’ll find inside of May It Be So include:
- 40 Days Of Heartfelt, One-Line Prayers To Reflect Upon
- Contemplative Imagery To Meditate Upon
- Devotional-like Meditations Based On Each Line Of The Lord’s Prayer
- Suggested Practices To Deepen Your Experience Of The Lord’s Prayer
The thing I enjoyed most about May It Be So: Forty Days With The Lord’s Prayer are the actual prayers themselves. Almost affirmation-like at times, I found that most of them are poetic and profound in their simplicity and echo sentiments that I pray (or aspire to pray) during my own personal prayer time. Here are a few examples of the prayers that resonated with me:
May those I love know it unquestioningly.
May I courageously choose to trust,
Even knowing how frail human promises can be.May I have the courage to follow meaning and significance
Wherever they lead.
May It Be So is a different type of prayer book – one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
NOTE: May It Be So goes on sale on September 24, 2019 but is available for pre-order now!

What a great focus for a book! I did nearly 40 days with the Lord’s prayer one summer when I spent time with it each night before falling asleep. A good memory and a great focus.
That is SO much better than counting sheep Michele – great idea! 🙂
I am reading this book too. I love the short prayers too! They gave me peace to read and think about them. Love that the prayers are so short!
Glad you’re enjoying the book too Janet – thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! 🙂
Sounds like a wonderful book! Thank you for letting us know about it.
Happy Sunday,
Barb 🙂
I just finished reading the book last week while on vacation. I too, enjoyed it very much. The prayers are short but kept me focused.
Glad you liked it Joanne – hope you had a nice vacation!
