Numbers: Learning Contentment In A Culture Of More – Bible Study Review

Now that summer is behind us, are you looking for the perfect Bible study to delve into this Fall? I’m thrilled to introduce you to Melissa Spoelestra’s new Bible study, Numbers: Learning Contentment In A Culture Of More.

The Numbers Bible Study is a multi-component study that consists of the Numbers Women’s Bible Study Participant Workbook , as well as a Leader Guide, a DVD with six 20-25 minute sessions, and a boxed Leader Kit. The Participant Workbook includes five days of lessons for each week with plenty of room for journaling, personal reflection, application and prayer. You can purchase Bible Study items separately or inclusively as part of the Leader Kit.

There are so many things that I love about this study, but first and foremost is the fact that this study will speak to every woman’s heart. Inside each of us is something that longs for more. No matter how blessed we are – no matter how much we have – we all struggle with feelings of insufficiency, lack, and discontentment. It’s part of our human nature.

You know who else struggled with being satisfied and content in spite of God’s provision? The Israelites! In our six-week journey through the Numbers Bible Study, we’ll read through Numbers and Exodus and meet a group of people who wandered in the desert for 40 years, unable to enter the Promised Land because of their complaining, grumbling, and lack of faith.

Did you know that we are so similar to the Israelites in our attitudes and mindsets, that 1 Corinthians 10:11 says their story was written to warn us not to make the same mistakes they did lest we suffer the same consequences? Through this study, we’ll take a look at why we have a tendency to complain – what the relationship is between complaining and worry – how we can realign with God’s character and promises – and how we can learn to rise above our circumstances and be content with whatever we have, just like Paul (Philippians 4:11).

I rate this Bible Study 5 out of 5 stars.
