Settle My Soul: 100 Quiet Moments To Meet With Jesus – Review

When you feel weary in your mind, body and spirit and craving spiritual nourishment for your weary soul, where do you turn for inner rejuvenation?

Proverbs 31 Ministries speaker and author Karen Ehman – along with author/blogger Ruth Schwenk – know we need to settle our souls. So, they’ve invited us to turn off our phone notifications, ignore our dirty laundry, and stop thinking about work and what’s for dinner and focus on carving out some time for God!

Their latest book, Settle My Soul: 100 Quiet Moments To Meet With Jesus, is the perfect companion to curl up with during these times of restoration and renewal. The colors of the pretty pink and green blossoms are carried throughout the book, bringing to mind time spent with our Lord in a beautiful garden!

Each devotion features a passage of Scripture and a story to meditate upon and a prayer, but my favorite part of each day’s entry is the interactive journaling piece. At the end of each devotion is a question to ponder and journaling space within the book to record your response to the day’s theme (which includes such relevant and provocative topics as Rethinking Solitude, Is God At Work In My Life, Satisfying Our Deepest Hunger, What Is Your Plumb Line, and Stay Home And Change The World).

Settle My Soul is a beautiful book that’s perfect for gift-giving and a delight to read and journal through, but what I really like about this devotional is that it’s meeting me right where I’m at right now. By reading these devotionals and especially by completing the day’s exercises, I feel like it’s helping me to find new ways to express my faith in my daily life.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

    • Fun fact: In my first home, I had a room decorated with white Laura Ashley curtains covered with pretty pink and green blossoms that were a pretty close match to this book cover!
