A More Beautiful Life by Whitney English – Book Review

Are you a woman who’s ready to create a life you love but finds that traditional goal-setting and productivity books don’t seem to work for you? It’s not that you aren’t prepared to define your goals and put them into action. It’s just that traditional, business-oriented models don’t meet you where you.

Whitney English – a highly successful entrepreneur who has built not one but two 7-figure businesses – understands where you’re coming from. Even in the midst of her success, she believes we need to focus on creating a balanced, beautiful life that is rich in abundance and possibilities.

That’s why she wrote A More Beautiful Life: A Simple Five-Step Approach to Living Balanced Goals with HEART. This book teaches you how to set goals of the HEART, an acronym that stands for:

H – Help Yourself
E – Empower Yourself
A – All Your People
R – Resources and Responsibilities
T – Trade

HEART Goals are Whitney’s proven framework for helping you better understand yourself.

A More Beautiful Life 4

In A More Beautiful Life, Whitney helps you to set goals and create a life you love not by tracking and measuring everything to death, but by meeting you right where you are.

Whitney believes that traditional goal setting sets us up for failure. In traditional goal setting, we start from a place of desired outcomes in order to answer the question, “Where do I want to end up in life?”

Next, we try to follow a plan that requires us to pursue a certain path and track our progress with journals, spreadsheets, and complicated tools. However, the plan is usually too long, too hard, and too elaborate. It isn’t flexible, fluid, or dynamic, making it difficult for us to adjust to the realities of our daily lives.

Often, by focusing too much on the outcome, we forget who we are in the process, missing the point of goal setting altogether. While traditional goal setting may work for some people, many of us are finding we need a system that allows us to embrace who we are and guides us toward a better life.

A More Beautiful Life 1

In A More Beautiful Life, Whitney shares HEART Goals – a system that starts with what matters most to you and never forces you to adopt arbitrary goals and rules. Whitney believes that the process matters, not just the outcomes. Her system frees you from comparison and allows you to be authentically yourself. It helps you gain confidence as you make the progress that comes from having done your best instead of the depressing discouragement that comes from comparing yourself to the performances of others. You won’t have to become someone else to get what you want!

Whitney’s integrative approach to goal-setting helps you create a more meaningful life that is all yours. You won’t feel imbalanced or off-center as you pursue one area of success, fearing it will cost you somewhere else. Without any striving, your goals will be aligned with where you want to go in life. You won’t need to completely change who you are to follow the system. No more deadlines. No more tracking. No more nonsense.

A More Beautiful Life 3

Whitney’s approach make a lot of sense to me! What I like most about A Beautiful Life are the journaling prompts she provides throughout the book to help us identify and bring our Heart Goals to fruition. I also appreciate her personal stories as well as the Christian texts woven throughout the book.

If you’re looking for a book that can help you to create the life of your dreams or you want a beautiful, inspirational gift to give a grad or someone you love, A Beautiful Life is a great choice!

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Loved that this book refers to living goals created from the heart for a MORE beautiful life. This may be the answer to all those goals set in January each year that barely get fulfilled.
