Happy WOYWW to you all! We are just a few weeks away from the great WOYWW ATC Swap of 2012 and I am excited to learn that so many 1st-time ATC makers will be joining this event! To encourage those of you who are still on the fence, here’s a few more ATCs to get your creative juices flowing! Included in this week’s batch are a House-Shaped ATC (#5) and a JAMS ATC (#4). For another variation, click to see my Folded ATC!
The best way to get started is to create lots of card bases in different colors so you’ll have a good supply of cards on hand when inspiration strikes! Gather an assortment of cardstock and your paper trimmer and start cutting! Here are some templates to help you maximixe your cuts:
1) If you are working with 12 x 12 Cardstock, use the fabulous 12 x 12 template provided by Club Scrap Addicts! You will find the complete instructions here to get an amazing 16 cards out of each sheet of paper!
2) If you are working with 8.5 x 11 cardstock, you will want to use the 8.5 x 11 template provided by Mirkwood Designs. You will get 10 cards out of this pattern. Mirkwood Designs has an extensive collection of papercrafting templates, including an Artist Trading Card Envelope template and an extensive gallery of samples!
Once you’ve made your ATC bases, you will want to begin collecting materials to use on your cards. If you begin making ATCs on a regular basis, you will want to keep your eye out for items that specifically work well on with ATCs! Next week, I’ll share some items that I’ve found make particularly nice embellishments for ATCS that you probably have lying around your craft room!
Before you go:
- For your weekly does of Inspiration – visit Inspire Me Monday!
- For your weekly Feline Fix – visit Wordless Wednesday!
- To celebrate Mother’s Day – visit Friendship Friday!
- To see what’s on everyone’s workspace – visit Stamping Ground!
Have a wonderful week, dear friends!
It’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Have a great WW.

Great looking ATCS! I have made hundreds over the years but I have never seen this clever way of cutting them out! Like the ones you have done, the house shaped one is specially nice I think!

Fabulous, never really thought about how many you could make from a 12×12 scrapbook sheet! I usually use card, or ATC packets, but haven’t been able to get any for months and months. Thank you for my crafty snoop! Have a great crafty week.

Happy WOYWW. Congrats on being No.1. Thanks for those ATC templates – I have always used ‘shop-bought’ ATC blanks, but useful to know that I could cut out my own. Ali x #46

I must get a start made on my ATC! Haven’t even thought about it yet! Been ages since I’ve done any! I used to use old playing cards for mine! Got an old pack still lying around for it so I’m going to have a wee think later on when my paper work is all done and see what I can come up with!
Thanks for sharing

I started one with playing cards a long time ago but decided I really liked using heavy duty cardstock the best – like starting from a blank canvas and building from there! Just my preference though. Cards can make a really cool backdrop for your ATCs, particularly if you build them into your design! 🙂
Great tip , thanXXX
Happy WOYWW Wednesday!

Wow #1 on the list today. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on making ATCs.
That’s amazing how you can get so many atcs from a 12×12 sheet.
Thanks!

Thanks for the quickie ATC tutorial and inspiration. I had been thinking of ideas when I caught this nasty cold (I see in Julia’s comments that you are feeling poorly too). Anyway, any ideas I had have dripped out my nose so I must start over with new ideas. I don’t think I’ll be too artsy since that isn’t really my style (even if I do covet it). #150
Hey there. Congrats on being number 1!!! Very cool. I’m glad you did a post on ATCs – I only just started making them a few months back and really do enjoy them. I need to do as you suggested – cut some bases in different colors for when inspiration strikes. Yep, that’s going on my list.
I started following you on pinterest – it’s addicting, isn’t it.
Happy WOYWW
