The Dude Diet by Serena Wolf – Book Review

Have you ever wondered what would happen if a nutritionally-challenged guy with a broadening waistline asked a health-conscious chef (who just happens to be his girlfriend) to help him lose weight and improve his diet?

The answer lies in The Dude Diet: Clean(ish) Food For People Who Like To Eat Dirty – a very humorous yet informative cookbook by Serena Wolf!

The Dude Diet is unlike any other diet, nutrition or recipe book I’ve ever read. The introductory sections of the book are funny and highly relatable to men and women alike as Serena shares the struggles that she and Logan (“the Dude”) experience as she develops and he tries to adapt to his new diet. There are educational resources throughout this section but my favorite part is The Dude Diet Commandments, which begin with these words of wisdom:

I resolve to be less of a nutritional idiot. I shall think twice before I put things in my mouth, especially pizza, burritos, and other foods that are larger than my head.

The best part of this book, however, are the 125+ mouth-watering recipes – complemented by 102 stunning full-color photos – of healthy meals that look like filling meals you and your dude can feast upon! Even the most meat-sweating of men will find it hard to resist meals like these:

  • Skirt Steak and Avocado Quesadillas
  • Cheeseburger Quinoa Bake (see photograph)
  • Smarter Sausage Pizza
  • Summer Salad with Pan-Seared Salmon
  • 1-Hour Pulled Pork

If you know someone who could use help learning about the basics of nutrition and how to make better dietary decisions or someone who wants heartier but healthier meals, then The Dude Diet might just be the book for you!

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Note: The book contains expletives.

“…foods that are larger than my head.” LOL. My husband, and probably my boys, despite my best efforts, prefer dude food, so I need this book just to survive the next 20 years. HA!
