Nothing To Prove: Why We Can Stop Trying So Hard – Book Review
In a few short weeks, I will be attending an IF Gathering at my local church. I was SO excited when I learned that this event – the vision of author, speaker and Bible teacher Jennie Allen – was coming to town. I’ve enjoyed reading Jennie’s books and studying the Word of God with her in my home. I know that Jennie Allen has an incredible heart for God.
So, I could not wait to get my hands on Jennie’s latest book, Nothing To Prove: Why We Can Stop Trying So Hard, which may be her most transparent book to date!
In Nothing To Prove, Jennie pours out her heart to us about the inadequacies she has felt as a woman, a wife and a mother all of her life, in spite of her many accomplishments. She also opens our eyes to many of the ways that Satan spiritually attacks us and makes us feel that we are simply not good enough or worthy of the things that God has blessed us with.
But – after showing us that she understands first-hand the self-doubts and insecurities that we struggle with on a daily basis – she shares how we can find freedom from all of the self-induced pressures that we place upon ourselves by letting go of these unnecessary burdens and finding freedom in Jesus, who loves us and works through us.
Her message is heartfelt, authentic, and timely.
Nothing To Prove is filled with Jennie’s personal experiences and stories of God’s grace, inspiring Scripture, and interactive exercises. One of my favorite takeaways from the book is this:
Stop doing things for God and start doing things with Him.
If you are looking for a book that will challenge you to grow spiritually while leading a more authentic Christian life, than Nothing To Prove is for you!
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
